How do you have your Utec installed? I tried doing it the way it says in the manual, but then all my control ports face up. Now it's sitting sideways underneath the factory ECU with the ports facing the drivers side. I really am not happy with the current setup cause the kick panel on the left will not secure right. If you set yours up differently please chime in and post pics if possible. There has to be a clean and better way of doing this.
What control ports are you referring to? Once you get it installed you should never have to touch anything on the UTEC. I ran a USB cable to the glove box (I have a G35) so I can plug in and make tuning changes.
Gabe - I ran into the same problem as you. I would just hook everything up to the connections (USB, map sensor, map switch) and install it they way they said. My used UTEC didn't come with the mounting hardware, so I tried everything possible to mount it so that i could access the connections from under the dash if needed. I spent hours doing this to no avail, and just went to the hardware store to get some stuff to mount the ECU upside down and the UTEC hanging on the other side of the mounting plate. I have some pictures at home I can post up - but the way to do it is just to follow the instructions (unlike me).

Thanks John that would be great. I bought my utec used and it came without the mounting harware also. I also like the idea of running a usb cable into the glove box.
What kind of mounting hardware are you guys looking for? I ended up mounting mine with a few large zip ties and some double sided tape. Let's just say it doesn't fit in a G35 very well!

I emailed TurboXS about ordering just the mounting hardware and they never got back to me. Although that's the 2nd email now they haven't responded to.
I'll post up the pictures tonight. You'll see that in order to flip the ECU upside down I needed to buy some spacers to extend the bolts on the ECU mounting bracket - just like the supplied mounting hardware does...sorta. Then the UTEC just clips in and hangs on the other side (right side) of the ECU mounting bracket. It's kind of ghetto, but works just fine.
I did however have to dremel a notch out of the bottom of the dash cover to get it to fit - since it was hitting the ECU harness going into the connector. Ah crap...i also ended up removing a big white plastic bracket piece that was bolted in with one bolt to hold a body harness connector. Really no need for it, so it gave me more room to play around with.
But hey, at least it fits and doesn't hang down into the foot well or anything.

Okay, I see how you're doing it. I mounted mine to the opposite side of the ECU that you're trying to mount to. Not sure how that'd fit though without the mounting brackets... I'd call TXS about the mounting hardware. I've noticed they're more responsive to phone calls than email. But they are very helpful when you get ahold of them~
Hey, don't forget to ground your UTEC to the *chassis*. It makes a difference!
Also, if ya wanna lose some weight, get rid of that metal plate underneath the passenger side dash. That thing is kinda heavy. :-)

Yeah, for some reason I don't even think the UTEC would have fit on the other side (the side they recommend) of the ECU. Either way this should be fine. I grounded it to a different point that should work, since I used the grounding point you pictured for my Innovate wideband.
