I've been trying to play catch-up with the ProEFI as I didn't follow it when it was first announced.

It seems that the 48 pin is more than capable but honestly it leaves quite a few things out from the 128pin. If you are going to go all out in your build, then why settle for a weaksauce EMS. 128 seems like the only way to go IMHO.

My main concern is if the 48 pin is so powerful, what is the point of producing a 128 pin? Obviously ProEFI left out a few key components that make it worthwhile if you are going all out.

As stated in the ProEFI thread, the difference's area....

The things you gain on the 128 from the 48 are in short:

*More stages of nitrous
*Differential Wheel speed traction control
*Variable cam control (the 48 leaves the stock computer controlling it, and thus far is doing an excellent job and really isn’t worth the upgrade alone.)
*Electronic Throttle control (the 48 also leaves the stock computer in control of that as well. We have seen absolutely NO reason for trying to eliminate the stock computers control over the ETC…. it does what you ask every time!)
Dual Internal Wideband O2 control

I think ProEFI's intent is to not sell it's main unit (the 48 unit) short. Companies are notorious for making there "standard" equipment far below the level of there"Top of The Line" product, and try to up sell you. With the 48 unit, you pretty much get all the benefits of the 128, less a few features that only a select few "Crazy Builds" would need.

How do some people (not including tuning shops) have this unit already?

I'm not following your question. This product is released and is ready for sale. Those who have this on there car already have purchased and tuned this EMS through one of the Authorized Dealers.

Sorry, for the confusion. I'm looking at a bunch of dealer websites and I didn't seem to find any of them selling it through their online stores.

So, is the harness necessary to install the ProEFI or can we use an autosport harness and splice in the wires?

I thought that's what you meant... just wanted to clarify

The ProEFI has a vehicle specific Harness for each application. Very few wires are needed to be "wired" to get this EMS running.

You can order the units themselves. I was told if you order by the end of May, you will get the consumer software for free when it is released in June.

I believe you are correct. Have you contacted Intense or Sound Performance about the ProEFI?

Yea, I been on there website asking questions myself, The 17x17 resolution with 1/100 interpolations on the RPM axis is pretty top notch stuff.
Great write-up OP.
