Default Tune Noob

With my current mods (in my sig) would it beneficial for me to get a tune? Is this something that can be done at a nissan dealer? I just read the other post made about his friend getting the JWT done. Doesn't sound like it but I don't have any other shops around.

What are my options and what are the cheapest priced tunes?

Thanks for the help.

Nissan dealer can adjust timing with their scanner (Consult II) but not sure about the A/F ratio.
You can go with the UTEC, or with Osiris, or the Cobb access port...

If a buddy of mine has a cobb access port for his Sti, is there a way to just download a tune for mine and use his? I don't know how all this works.

negative. the AP is model specific and cannot even be used on seperate cars of the same type. if i am not mistaken, during the initial setup, the AP reads the VIN or some other type of identifier and will only make changes for that particular car.

Okay thanks, how much is a cheap reflash and where do you go for that? I don't have anything where I am at. If it is even worth doing with the mods I have.

not worth it... if you plan on doing more breather mods, just wait... if you are done just enjoy the car - a tune at this point would be a waste of money.

Yeah I want to do HFC's at some point. I am enjoying the car with the mods. They have improved it a little. I am def. not going to do headers so after the HFC's it might be time for the tune then.

Thanks

A reflash would be a bad idea if you had no way to adjust it in the future when you change the mods on your car. Luckily we're here. You can buy a basic flash from us, and get three free eTunes. Usually people will use one eTune to make the basic reflash work for their particular car as a basic reflash doesn't sit well with all vehicles. After that you'd have two free eTunes left that you could use whenever you change the mods on your car, or if you move to a drastically different climate or altitude.

I was going to send this by PM but it appears that function is disabled. Can you provide a brief summary as to the process of creating a flash? I assume the end user monitors and logs certain parameters then sends that info in for one of the included 3 eTunes? Then you design a flash gears around those parameters then it is emailed and uploaded to the car through the software. I just want to make sure I understand the process before I decide to go with one over the other. I did check your site but was still unclear. Thank you in advance.

I did, one post up.

Our tune is never negated by upgrades. Our tuning abilities are even worth while on a completely stock vehicle. It's especially important on vehicles with mechanical advantage upgrades as the stock ECU is expecting X and the sensors are then telling it Y. The stock ECU then compensates for safety, meaning the car will run richer, and often times pull ignition. So a tune anytime you add hard parts (mechanical advantage) is a good idea. Having one that you can update at will is even better.

I think a reflash on a stock car might be worth it, given what even the standard flash does.(ala Technosquare L-spec) It's up to the purchaser if the cost/benefit is right.

But the great thing about UpRev is that reflashes are free for the 1st three. Great if you have a wideband and can avoid having to dyno to gather the info for UpRev to create another flash for ya.

We generally try and start with as close as possible of a match for your model and year of car with the mods you list. We don't always have an exact match, but for the 350Z/G35 we're usually pretty close. We make the base roms from cars that we have actually dyno tuned. Those tunes while close as possible are never perfect for your car, so we try and get people to send back a log file from their car so that we can verify how close the flash is to working on your particular car. From those logs we can adjust AFR trims and on the rare occasion we'll even have to back down some timing as all cars are different. We then e-mail the updated tune back to you so that you can flash your car with something based on your car.

Is it perfect? No. But we're going to be as close as possible without having to dyno tune your car, and we're the only company that does this service without hesitation and free that I know of. The purpose behind giving three free eTunes and not just one, is that we want customers to feel good about upgrading their cars further, they don't have to concern themselves too much about how well their car is going to run if they modify something. We're car geeks to the core here and we never stop working on our own cars, we don't expect our customers do either.

I will have to check out your site and read what this is all about. Sounds like this is the way to go. How can you go wrong with three free etunes? Does the site explain exactly what you have to buy to get the info to the ecu? I do not have a wide band or any tuning device. We do not even have a dyno here. I am very interested though now.

Thanks for the information and replies.
