Default Utec Tuning Concerns/suggestions ?

hi,

******* Im new to the forums, so first off I want to say hi to every one. I have a few question for you tuners on the site.I have a non rev up and I am currently running a vortech kit with 600cc dw injectors. I have been tunning it my self with Utec. I also have a AEM wide band hooked up to the cpu to log a/f as well. I am using MAPSlog for any of you that are familiar with this tool its pretty nice for self tuning.*

Anyways I have been data logging my car for weeks now getting everything just right. I have 80%-100% load column perfect and right were I want it ….* Makes phenominal power at wot at 12psi ( 2.87 pulley ) . So my concern is all the cells below that. I am trying to fine tune 10-60 columns right now. This is harder than I thought. I have been getting better and better with every fine tune adjustment. But I am stuck now with a certain issue.* What air fuel do you guys suggest for each load columns. I have been going off the wrx tuning info from pdx tuning instructions. It has 0% load column which is just setting up Lt/St which I cannot get this perfect but managable. This is the ECU trying to keep the air/fuel around 14.5:1 ? Ish. Then I have it in speed density mode set at 0psi so anytime it goes in boost the utec takes over. I set 10% - 40% load columns to 12.5:1 and then 40%-70% at 11.5:1 then of course my 80% - 100 % column is set to 11:1.* What do you guys think of that ? Is that good for a daily driving set up ?*

I am just looking for any suggestions from expiernce utec tuners or tuners in general. You can always pm me as well. Thanks everyone.

Just go and get a Tune from a good shop better safe than sorry. I can send you a map for 8 psi procharger with 600cc that I used to have on my car but do not use the timing just the fuel map because I was tuned for water/meth injection. Check your PM

Thanks frankie. - appreciate the help.

I would go get it tuned but I have it close and doing well with it. Not worth $$$ for minor touches. I will take a look at your map and see what's up.

Any one have suggestions about load sites.

shops that charge 500$ + will not comment on this.

tuning the other load columns is the exact same as the 80-100%. i am not sure what you are having problems with. with a SC, theres only like 3 or 4 cells to adjust for each load column as boost is linear.

just plot what rpms correspond with what load columns and adjust those to meet the AF you want.

just get your AF right, then start advancing the timing. match the AF to the new timing. keep doin that til u get knock, and then back it down a hair.

without a dyno it takes along time on the road.

I have water/meth so my tune is a little different and I had to compensate for the little delay when I spray meth, but to make it simple, you are on the right track. I have a turbo and I like my 10-20 column to be around 12.2-12.1 and as I hit 30-50 column I bring that down to around 11.8-11.6 and past 60 I like my A/F to be around 11.5 and 11.3 around peak TQ area.

just dont forget that ur AFR will be leaner on the dyno

so the best way is to keep ur AFR 11.5 on the streets.

the best AFR for ur car is 2500-3500RPM 12.5 3750 - 6750 11.5

try to do it this way, much much better

and allso the timing map, u shoud not be using low timing numbers, the supercharged car is not the same as a turbocharged car.

if u need any help in timing just msg me ill be glad to help u

Awesome advice guys. What I am currently doing now is data logging and taking what the average a/f is and then adj. Getting really close. These last little adj are annoyoing.

Question for you supercharged guys. What do you set your minimum value for maping at. I currently have mine set at +1psi. Seems to help transition into boost.

Also. It seems interesting that no one on this site really talks about tunning there own car. Well besides the killer thread jeremy, aceman, and shariff were in about jeremy tunning his na.
You go to subie sites and there are loads of info. I guess they have just had it longer.

Thanks again to every one and special thanks to frank for the pm help.
