Erasing cel's with Accessport
First off, I want to make it clear that I don't care about any other type of tuning software , I'm asking about the one I have.
Okay with that said; I have erased the cel's from my ecu before but they always come back after some time of driving (the catalytic converter ones...I have test pipes) .
I want to go get my car re-inspected , I won't say why lol because that is not important.
Anyways I want to get the car inspected again so I was wondering if I erase the CEL's with Accessport , will the inspection's computer read that the ecu is not ready to be read ? Basically does erasing the cel's do the same thing as resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery or does it erase the cel's only but leave everything else about the ecu alone ?

if you have the cobb access port, by erasing them then they are no longer stored in the ecu's memory bank, as if they never happened.
if you read the manual it will tell you, just as i read the entire manual today

Everything that I have used to clear the CEL will also reset the readiness tests. I would assume this to be the same with the AP. A decent scan tool should be able to confirm by showing you the current states of readiness tests.
Also, using other products (Uprev) to disable specific DTC codes such as your catalytic codes will cause the related readiness test to never go ready.

If the Cobb can actually "cheat" and set SRT codes whilst still disabling CELs permanently, then please report back! That would be a god send for everyone trying to pass emissions.
well it wont get rid of cel's permanently (they always come back after some driving time) but hopefully the ecu can be read and therefore cheat the inspection lol . I'll check saturday with a scan tool but I have already used AP's function to act as a scan tool after erasing them and haven't gotten any "not yet ready to be read" like messages, just says "no codes" or something like that if I remember correctly.
The AccessPORT works like any other OBDII scanner in that it can reset the code, but it does not eliminate the cause for that code or turn it off permanently. Although if you use AccessTUNER race you may be able to turn that code "off" I will check on the software specs and get back to you.
