Default How to remove APEXi Super AFC NEO?

Hey everyone, I've been following this forum for a while and just wanted to say that this site is awesome!!

Anyways, I picked up an 08 Z last year and absolutely love the car. But the previous owned had installed an APEXi Super AFC NEO on it (this thing: http://www.importtuner.com/reviews/p...ent/index.html). I wanted to uninstall it because I do not plan on using it and maybe I could sell it to someone who has a need for it. I thought it would be an easy disconnect job, so I disconnected the unit using the harness to see if that was all there is to it. Unfortunately no, because once I started the car the check engine light came on, car went into limp mode, and would not rev past 3000rpms. I tried to reset the ECU by doing all the long steps involving holding down the gas pedal and etc, but the light never turned off and the car remained in limp mode. In the end I just reconnected the APEXi unit and the car returned to normal.

Has anyone had experience with this and know how to properly remove the unit? Thanks in advance!

Take a look at the instruction/install manual. Maybe there's something your missing:

Yes, if you want to uninstall it, you will need to re-connect the MAF sensor wires. Installation of this unit requires you to disconnect the sensor from the ECU by way of the Neo...so simply removing the Neo will mean that the car has no sensor input from the MAF.

Take a close look at the wiring schematic.

If you remove the unit, you need to connect the wires (in the 350's harness) that are for the "airflow sensor". Simply connect the wires that connect to the Yellow and White wires in the AFC harness. That will re-attach the MAF to the ECU.
