Default Power after Uprev and test pipes

I've got a 2005 287bhp 350z (non-revup). My current mods are Nismo cat back (including Nismo Y-pipe) and MD 5/16" plenum spacer and drop in panel filter. I'm having the Uprev remap in a couple of weeks. I've searched the threads on here but can't find a definitive answer to my question. Has anyone had an Uprev remap with similar basic bolt-on mods to mine on their 287bhp car and what kind of power increase can I expect to see after the Uprev?

And in the future if I decide to fit test pipes what extra difference to power would test pipes make with my other mods and a further Uprev remap (would it only be 5 bhp at most) and would there be a small loss in torque low down the revs even after the remap? The one thing I really like about the 350z is the instant urge from as low as 1500-3000 revs. I don't want to lose this. Thanks for any info.

i know this is for FI but dude research!!!

also. remap dont you mean retune. I recommend getting all your bolts on done before a retune! from the mods you got maybe 250hp to the wheels! (correct me if im wrong )

Thanks for your reply. Yes meant re-tune. Over here in the UK we also call it a remap / re-flash sorry. Yes I'm hoping for 240-250 whp with my cat back, MD spacer, panel filter and Uprev but any before and after gains is all I'm hoping for, even without the re-tune the Nismo and spacer definitely feel as though they have added more mid-range urge. I'm assuming test pipes on top (with additional re-tune) would add around another 6-10whp. Like the clip

I also think you should tune after you buy the bulk of your parts. Something like a test pipe will change the tune and it will be money wasted if done too early. Ultimately, its up to you just know most items you change will change the tune you get from Uprev. I'm not sure if they offer a re-tune at a discounted rate but it still sux to pay for something twice.

I agree with the guys here. You should wait until your bolt ons is complete. After that get a good tuner to dyno tune and reflash with the Osiris. On your car you should see anywhere from 15-20 extra rwhp. Be carefull and enjoy. If you have anymore questions about the tune feel free to ask.

somebody from the tuning business told me that any exhaust mods after the cats/testpipes do not affect the tuning? is this true?

I don't believe that is completely right or wrong, just really generalized. It will not have a huge affect but there is some. Anytime you are able to move air through the enigne at a higher or lower rate of speed you can affect the tune.

I talked with the nearest Osiris tuner (6 hours away) They said it would be a total of 850.00 for the standard and dyno/tuning time. Looking at the mods in my signiture do you guys feel I would gain much from a tune?

I also could add a wideband to my 04 then go the etune route but I dont know what the best cost effective option would be.

I'm sure there is something on the table, probably a little lean (moving air through the system better than base map would expect). If I remember right gains for the DE dyno tune should range around 8-13 whp but also make the car a lot more responsive through the band.

So do you guys think that worth the 850.00 plus gas for the trip?

That's a little expensive, and its out of the way. Ultimatley its your call but I'd suggest looking around for a dyno/tune day by another or the same tuner.

yeh, $850 seems a bit high IMO. Just came back from a tuner shop in NC to get my buddies wrx tuned after he went with a vf43 upgrade and only got charged about $360. The guy charged my friend for 2 hours, despite spending extra time trying to find a boost leak.
Every shop will vary so I would def call other places that support Osiris.

The price your friend got might be lower than you should expect, did he have a fuel/timing tuning device installed already?

Decisions decisions, I just wish that the opinions of everyone was more unified. The thing I have heard the most is that 850 is too high. I have also heard that Osiris is highly reccommended. Sucks I live in the middle of no where.

Ok, that sounds normal. $360 for tuning an existing device. For a reflash of a new car expect to pay more. They are basically charging you to licence the software to update your ECU.

240-250WHP is stock numbers for many DEs. People have dynoed 270WHP+ when tuned with all bolt-ons (no headers). Though, imo, Nismo exhaust isn't the best when it comes down to making power. Either way, test pipes make good power over stock cats, and even more power when tuned. I'm not saying OP will dyno 270+, but ~260 should definitely in the cards tuned.

Get Osiris and do the e-tune service for $50. You'll get largely the same gains as you would from a dyno tune. People who have had their cars e-tuned and then dyno tuned only picked up an additional 2-3WHP with the dyno tuning, which you can likely pick up if you ask Osiris to do another e-tune. And that goes to show you just got great the e-tune is.

Arnold I would love to do the e-tunes but that means I'm going to have wire in some sort of wideband into the car. What all would I have to buy? Just a wideband, wire it up, then get a gauge? How does the Osiris link to an aftermarket wideband for the e-tune?
