i have an 03 z basic bolt ons. cai exhaust y pipe test pipes penium spacer and throttle body spacer. im looking for a tune i can pay 500 for the osirus standard tuner and just list my parts or i can go to a shop in ny(Performance Motorsport East, Inc) in smithtown about an hour and a half ride from my house in hackensack nj. witch will reflash my ecu with osiris and dyno it with a protune for 600 but i wont actually have the tuner. thoughts? thanks ahead of time..also is it true if i only get the reflash if my batteru dies will the reflash be set back to stock? or is there anyway he reflash will go away inwanting? once agin thanks im new to tuning so im trying to fiqure it all out
The $500 version of Osiris is still only the one where they tune you via e-mail though. So basically, your option is spend $500 on a canned tune, or $600 on a dyno tune. Always better on the dyno.
The tune won't go away if the battery dies. It re-writes the base file in the computer. You will still reset the fuel trims and whatever else is learned behavior when the computer is reset, but the changes are made to the hard target values the car tries to achieve (AFR, Timing, etc.) which are permanent. Unless Nissan re-flashes the PCM for some reason, the tune won't go anywhere.
