Default Anything else before getting tune?

So I have an 03 AT Z and for awhile wasn't able to even consider a tune because of my financial situation lately. I recently came into a tiny bit of money and was curious if I should consider anything else before getting an Uprev tune.

2003 AT 350z
HKS Exhaust
Megan Racing Test Pipes
JWT pop charger
MD Plenum Spacer

I have read on the 03s the MD manifold is a waste of money. Anything else I should consider? I don't track or anything just like having fun.

Thanks guys for any input,
Sean

A quick google search tells me they run around $225. Where would you recommend purchasing them from, z1? And how much would it run to have them installed or can one do it themselves.

Thanks so far

Headers will yield the biggest gains of anything that requires tuning to realize them. Pulleys aren't going to affect the tune so don't worry about them now.

I see a lot of heads running anywhere between $300 and $1000ish. Aren't headers fairly expensive to have installed?

Keep us posted on your numbers when you get your tune. Curious as to what numbers you'll put up. I'd try to score a used header, but its going to be expensive to install.

just curious, are headers pretty much the last somewhat affordable part I should get before a tune? Anything else anyone can think of?

Thanks so far for all the advise everyone

EDIT: I have a feeling I no the answer to this but I was curious if anyone had any comments on Megan Racing headers?

Also are any headers CA carb legal? I realize I already have TPs but those are easy to remove if I ever needed to where as headers would be a b*tch.

No aftermarket header for your Z is CA street legal.

Then the big question is... Are headers worth it or not? And either way, is anything else recommended?

Nothing else that would affect your hp gain except for headers. Some say headers aren't worth the money, but if your going to get a tune, you might as well go all the way and replace them. Why do intake, test pipes, and exhaust, and not do headers if your going to tune.

Btw, just a suggestion, if you ran into money issues not to long ago, maybe you shouldnt blow all the money you just got on a tune??

Crawford headers are the best headers on the market for Z/G' s and yield the most gains after a tune but they cost $1200 w/jet hot coating including shipping from Crawford Z. I currently have them installed in my Z and modified them to work with my Turbonetics single turbo kit.

Well a tune at GTM I believe is $400 well spent. Spending over a $1000 on headers for little gain I'm starting to think isn't.

Headers are crap for our cars, ours are good enough.

megan longtubes are cheap, but you still have to justify the cost of install, op is better off getting tune now and then later if you decide to get headers ( compared to how much your going to spend) just get another tune, dont quote me but i doubt it will be anywhere close to initial cost since you all ready have the piggyback
