Default Hitting Rev limiter???

Just finding out if bumping off the rev-limiter is so bad?

What does it cut spark or fuel or both?

What I am getting at is being boosted and manually shifting
A/T it will not shift as fast as you like if you still like drivability
in town. I can play with torque mgmt to break your neck and leave your
trans on the ground but to find the happy medium with out always changing maps sometimes Well most times 1st -2nd shifts are touchy and if you are in
the boost you bump the rev limiter.

So with that have you had many motorpart outs with that?
as there seems to not be a option to have different rev limits for each gear.

P.S. This is not for track or strip apps just for smiles per miles.

Hitting the rev limit is not too bad... not nearly as bad as boosting the hell out of it LOL. I'd be more worried about the A/T than the motor.

ok so i just battled this on the drift thread so i did tons of research, i found that hitting limiter here and there isnt bad but during hard conditions the z33 cuts fuel not ignition, in turn especially for boosted vehicles makes it very lean also think of what your spark will eventually do to the top of your piston with all the dry fire. the reason i have researched this so deeply is cause i drift and i tend to drift aggressivley and bounce of limiter, i fixed this with an aftermarket rev limiter that cuts fuel and is adjustable. if you have a tune which i imagine you do you can set this limiter at just before the one you have now. it is proven that it will save your motor over time.

no fuel + spark = nothing.

or do you mean the actual little spark from the plug jumping its gap?

A spark isn't going to hurt the top of the cylinder... lean is one thing but no fuel is no fuel... it's not lean, it's just nothing...no fuel = no fire = no damage.

Translation:

My boosted Z is so awesome it is out of control. Its so freaking fast that I hit the rev limiter every shift.

Sorry If I did not relay my thoughts or concerns better.

Just that it is hard to gauge the pre shift rpm as to the lag
before the trans grips fully because in 1st to 2nd as well as 3rd
sometimes I loose traction so it will sometimes hit the rev limiter

Most of the time not a problem but when you drift thru a few corners
the rear end wants your full attention and letting off will
not give you the desired effect(opposite wheel lock) not so much
a problem when not fully boosted so you bounce a little off the limiter.

I see many Honda's drifting just riding the limiter with out concern and
not that is what I would do.

Having a VQ de boosted is stressed already just want to know is there
noted dangers with hitting the limiter once in a while?

Thanks I did not have my nomex suit on.
