Default New to Tuning

So I am getting interested in tuning and have a few questions about it if you don't mind...

- I bought the Nismo Dual Cold Air Intake, will a tune boost power from it?
- Is tuning bad for the car in anyway?
- Any good places in So Cal? LA Area?
- Any information about tuning would be appreciated, thanks

Thumbs up utec tune

i will only offer my experiences..

ams crank pulley
i had nismo cold air..removed it. atleast part of it and made it a short ram, with K&n filter, i sourced the Jim Wolf Popcharger heatshield to stop the hot air from radiator fans.
i have replica nismo headers, replica hks exhaust. test pipes.
upper and lower manifold is mildlly ported and polished on inside. motordyne spacer 5/16 lower collector spacer with obx thermal gasket.
i then found a used turbo xs utec for $300 awhile back, installed it and had it tuned at a shop on a dynomite awd dyno for roughly $300.

their numbers showed 33hp gain and 11 tq from base dyno to finish. i was also on 260gtx or 103 octane.

so basically all air mods.. i didnt mention other mods that dont matter.

The nismo intakes make sound not power. A tune is good. There are no side effects if the tuner is compitent. Uprevs website has a list of pro tuners. Check your area.

There is a ton of info on tuning on this site. Try actually looking.

On a HR version it's a waste of money if you are looking for hp...

Tune for sure is good, if well made ...

I have a DE.. with breather mods..
I want to get Osiris tune.. but
I'm thinking of installing
lightweight pulleys.. does it matter which I do first?
can I install the pulleys after the tune, or is it better before the tune?
I personally think it wouldn't matter.
thanks

Ok guys, great news! I found this shop that is about 10 minutes away from my dad's house called Specialty Z. They apparently specialize in all Z cars as the name states. I have read some reviews of the place and it has gotten outstanding reviews from everyone who left feedback. They do offer dyno tuning and I was seriously considering it but I do want to get some opinions from other Z owners about whether or not this would be a good idea or even worth it with just my installed Nismo Dual Cold Air Intake. I know that you guys said that I won't see gains from the intake but would a dyno tune be able to improve performance or hurt anything? The only thing that scares me is that they are running at red line so often that can't be too good for the car.... Thanks for all of the replies so far, much appreciated!

I raised my redline from 6.5k to 7.5k, then added 10lbs of boost... And I track it twice a month hitting redline the whole time... so I think you're fine banging on the stock rev limit!!
