Default ECU CAN port problems?

Not exactly a tuning issue, but since it has to do w/ the ECU I'll post it here. I tried installing a racepak dash on my car, which was supposed to be fairly plug-and-play w/ my Haltech ECU. But when I first tried it, it simply wouldn't turn on. It was recommended to me to check the voltages on the cable to make sure that they were right, and when I did, the power and ground voltages read 6v and 3v respectively. I take it these voltages are too low, and that's why it won't turn on, but I really have no idea what could be causing this. Is there a problem w/ my ECU's CAN port? could it be that the power is being lost in the cable itself? Is there just some setting somewhere that I didn't click on? Any help would be appreciated, especially cuz it's been weeks since I've even been able to drive my car. Thanx guys!

the can wires are for ECU comunication inly. You will still need to supply a 12v source and ground to the unit itself...

thats what I thought also, but page 20 of the manual is says

Power to the IQ3 is provided by the Haltech ECU. See your Haltech manual for more
information on powering the IQ3.

but teh harness does have CAN hi and lo and then battery/ ground.

Apparently the installation instructions included w/ the unit were off. They called for a few jumper wires to be run from the CAN hi/low wires to several pins. Turns out that those wires aren't needed for our ECUs, so once I rewired the connector w/o them, the unit fired right up.

this is a somewhat threadjack, but op has solved his issue...
do you think it would be possible to get a pro efi can display to work with the haltech? I mean they got the dash daq things to work with the right tweaks. Would any other can display work?
I'd really like having one of those 52mm pro efi displays in my car...
