Is UpRev MAF GT necessary boosted w/haltech?
I am still in the works for my boost build, and in the process of buying all the parts I need.
My question is to the tuners,
(1) Is the UpRev MAF GT necessary when boosted and it is going to be tuned w/haltech Platinum Pro?
(2) Whats the advantages of having and disadvantages of not having the UpRev MAF GT?
Thank you in advance

You won't need upgraded MAF with haltech. It tunes on different inputs.

While Haltech can use MAF as the load source, we generally use MAP (pressure) to tune - so an Uprev MAF GT is not necessary at all for tuning with Haltech.

so when tuning off MAP, do you still need the MAF sensor installed?

Wait for others to be 100%, but I'm 95% sure that you do. Nissan MAF stays in.

you do not need the maf plugged in. you just need uprev to clear the codes caused by it not being there.

With the Haltech you can totally remove the MAF and have NO codes without needing uprev ecu reflash.
The Haltech has a MAF output that "fakes" the stock ecu into thinking the maf is still there and working fine.
In doing that you have to install a add on Intake Air temp sensor though.

A couple notes/cautions about completely removing the maf with Haltech harness system:
1. Using the MAF output table eliminates the ability to use copythrough ignition timing.
2. The auto trans uses the maf as a load source. You will need to spend a fair bit of time programming the table correctly if removing the maf on auto.

And without the stock maf sensor you will need to add an external intake temp sensor since the intake temp sensor is located in the stock maf.

Would there be any reason to remove the MAF? I mean, is it much of an airflow blockage, and would an external intake air temp sensor be any better?

Makes for a cleaner intake install IMO esp on boosted applications.

You still have to put the air temp sensor somewhere, though.

Yeah, one thing it require a maf flange. And you can hide a temp sensor easy

Haltech can use about any air temp sensor, most common would be to use a GM air temp sensor.

but what about the oem ECU? Would it get the signal from the haltech? Would iginition timing copythough work?

no when you remove the MAF you cant do ign copy though.
the haltech has a MAF output table that sends a 'fake" maf voltage to the stock ecu to keep it happy.
Ive been running no maf for a long time now.

Just worried about the idle.
I know the haltech has a fake output, guess that would need to be tuned.
Did you wire the gm sensor into the OEM wiring?
