ECU wiz, please HELP!
Hi there, I need you experts to guide me to the right way.
I have installed the Mine's straight pipe and dynoed the car a week after.
I have intake, straight pipe, straight mid pipe(no resonator) and after market rear section.
The dyno was done on a dynopack and it was the same one I used doing my baseline 6 months ago.
The dyno result was disappointing, I lost 13 horse power and lots of torque. The mechanic said the car is running too lean and needs ecu flash.
The AF ratio is at peak range around 3500rpm to 5000 rpm with the maximum number 14.57.
This mechanic is in association with Techno Square and has suggested me to send my ECU there and it will come back tuned and ready to go.
My concern with this is that if I add more parts later on, I might have to re-flash the ECU again? So I thought that maybe a "piggy back" will be better.
E-manage was taken into account and I contacted Ultimate Racing here in Toronto who is known for Turbo tuning. They told me that they could tune my AF with the e-manage and fuel injector harness on the street. They quoted me $1250 cdn including parts and tuning.
I made a phone call to my dyno shop, Japanese auto (who suggested ECU flash). He told me that he is not sure if e-manage would work because our engine would re-collaborate itself. So if the main ecu is not dealt with, it will always re-collaborate after tuning?
OK, Now Im just very confused...would someone tell me what is going on??? E-manage or Flash??? Or SAFC??

Emanage works just fine on teh Z ecu....if you have other mods planned, it would be a good route to go. if your mods are basically done, a flash would work well, though i would highly recommend you flash it on your car, not via mailorder if at all possible

Not mail order, they guy that dynoed my car is a reputable tuner in Toronot. He is good friends with people at Technosquare supposingly.
I think I might just go to Ultimate and get them to tune it with e-manage....
More opinions welcome!!

Do something fast. 14.7:1 air/fuel is way to lean at wide open throttle. It shuold be down i the 12.5:1 range. I wouldn't be afraid of a mail order reflash, provided it was done by a reputable company like Technosquare. I'm sure they've done reflashes for combinations similar or identical to yours, so they should be able to get really close to the optimum tune. You may be down a horsepower or two over a tune done on a dyno, but you'll never feel the difference. That would be a lot better situation than cooking your engine because it's so lean.

After extensive tests, the flashes have proven themselves on multiple vehicles.
In this day in age, with the accuracy technosquare has... I wouldn't worry about it.
