Lets see if we can get this thread to say ...... 500 posts by lunch time ha ha ha

Bugger that, I've gotta get all of todays work done plus yesterdays that didn't get done because I was too bloody busy posting dooh !!!!

Feeling like pooh this morning too ...... problem with DIY (kitchen's) is I only get to do it at weekends and I'm getting well hacked off with the disruption at the moment - oh to have a straight house and a weekend free to nplay golf and mess about on the glorious UK roads (potholes, ***** & gatso's included). I think I seriously need to get p155ed.

There's a nice activity for today ..... when the other guys finally join us .... lets see how many English (or Irish fiddy) swear words don't get deleted by the swear filter on this site ????

**** is one for a headstart

Morning.

Was wondering when some refugees from the UK site would start posting.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the reason for downtime, this time?

OK update from the Squeaky one (1.20am) - this time it is technical

Hi Guys,

Board fell over whilst I was trying to sort out all of the problems tonight.

I have sent a list of issues that I have with the site since the server migrated to cyberjack. Most of these issues can be fixed by them and myself (when I have access and things work!) relatively quickly.

It's because,
a ) their database isn't configured correctly on the new server.
b ) the quota for the size of web space I have has been used up (no limit before)
c ) none of my old usernames and passwords have been working since the migration so I havent been able to do anything to help the cause!
They've just fixed that earlier.
d ) the mail accounts/mail is not working properly and if my control panel with them was actually working then id be able to fix this. All rather frustrating at the moment.

Oh and I made the changes so as the site displays a banner to tell people what is happening at the moment and of course the file cannot be uploaded and it zero'd the original file. So much for trying to fix stuff tonight.

If I only had my own server to run it on from my room life would be soo much easier.

Anyhow there's your updates! Goodnight!

Guys,

It seems to me like everyone involved in running 350zuk is spending every spare minute they have working on the website and with out proper resurces this is going to end in a situation where you'll have no alternative but to switch the thing off and walk away. Can we get the site, or the owners club, or premier members or something on a comercial footing. We can't continue relying on the generosity of a few.

Too true.

Can't the forum get some sort of advertising revenue from banner ad's? There are already a few traders on the site, would some of them be willing to pay for some banners?

Please no pop ups though.

Post whoring - the definitive guide

Basically, any post that is there solely for the purpose of increasing your post count. Lots of things fall into this. For example:

Posts with more smilies in than words.
Posts that answer a question with "I don't know"
Posts that take a thread ridiculously off topic.
Posts that say "what he said"
Asking a series of questions in different posts rather than in one go.
Causing an argument about nothing.
Having a conversation with someone (take it on messenger)

Basically, when you post, if you are not adding to the discussions at all or if you are only posting for the sake of posting, then you are post whoring.

Val did produce one of the best efforts of all time when RickB threatened to ban him unless he admitted he was a post *****. He then posted "I am a post *****", using a post for each letter.

Hope that helps.

you don't remember correctly.

He said he'd actually give money for charity if I did it. So I did

oh and Mods on the UK boards can't ban, only Mark can.
Mind you, some are on a bit of a power trip as well, these days IMO

Excellent!

Rick deleted a thread last night, when the forum wasn't there this morning I wondered if he'd been a bit over exuberant with the delete key.

Although a bit of moderating is a good thing, it keeps the forum friendly. It shocked me when I was reading that 99 Ron at Tesco thread, there was a link to a scooby site and I was amazed how quickly they went off at one another.
