Default Hawk Pad problem!!

Hey people.

I have put this thread on the Wheels, brake, suspension etc. on this site!!

But just thought i'd post here for the people who are only looking at the UK part!!!

-----------------
I have some Hawk HPS pads for Brembos. Tried to get them installed this morning by my Nissan dealer.. There telling me that the Front pads are to large for the calipers, and they won't fit, they said they measured them and there 0.8mm larger than stock!! I did question that 0.8mm isn't allot, but there sure they won't fit!!!

The rear pads fitted without any problems!!

I double checked on performance nissan that they had sent me the right pads, and i'm 100% they have.

Please someone tell me what the dealer is doing wrong?? They must be missing something!!!??

Help!!!
-------------------------

Any ideas guys!!!

Alex, make sure they have all the pistons fully retracted. If this doesn't work get them to check the size of all the pads. If some are thinner than others mix them so one thick and one thin on each side, and if they have and still won't fit get them to grind the pads. Shouldn't be a major problem. In short if they don't fit, make em fit

Bet the pistons arn't fully retracted.

Have you bought anything that's just gone staight on with no problems yet

Paulw, i wasn't around when they were trying to fit them. I just got back to pick the car up and they said front pads were wrong, i told them they weren't, but it just feel on def ears!!!!.. They were talking about grinding the pads, but they weren't prepared to do this, or giving the pads a little help with a hammer. They just kept saying the OEM ones fit ok!!

Tis a joke...

Are there any other places i could take my car to and somebody else try, don't really want to go to Kwik-Fit!!! Or should i go back to nissan and tell um bollocks get the ****ing job done.

And no everything i buy for this car is never simple, and only cost me money and time!! Love the car to bits, but it's starting to become more hassle than it's worth. But i'm causing this hassle myself by changing stuff, so it all goes hand in hand!!!

But come on how hard is installing brake pads, it's not like it's major..

I really shouldn't of gone to the dealer..... £82 down and half the job done.

Tis the ladyboy

Didn't think it was that tough to work out LOL.

82 notes for 1 hour seems a tad high, even for a dealer. Buy some spanners mate & DIY. Even Val is taking wheels off nowadays

p.s. Orange is better than 'primer grey' j/k

you need to remove the caliper and use a pry bar to push back the pistons.

£65 + VAT is the general labour rate for Nissan but can go up to as much as £120 for a 'complex' job. Obviously changing brake pads is slightly more complex than parking your car up for a day and telling you its been serviced.
