You've made the right choice.......

When i changed to charcoal on Monday afternoon I slept on it.......then woke up thinking.....NO!! ..... i want those orange seats....this is a special car and I want to make it extra nice.......luckily my dealer hadn't changed my order when i got though to him on Tuesday.

The nasty orange on orange was a shock to us all........but Alezan and Gunmetal............mmmmmmmmmmmm!

hehehe the old orange vs black decision.....i know the feeling.

I decided to go with black, as i feel, in Aus at least, the orange will date very quickly. Ive seen pics of a UK spec Z with orange, and i dont think i could bare the steering wheel, gear **** and handbrake orange too. Seems a bit like overkill. Was also surprised to c the centre console is black, not grey like US/Japan/Aus spec, yet the Bose deck is still grey. I do like the extra buttons on steering wheel, looks balanced now.

Im going a similar route, with having the steering wheel and gear gaitor stitching redone in orange to match the seats. The orange stitching and perforations on the seats dont seem to match nething on a silver car, so hopefully itll all look good in the end.

And quickly, do u guys get the auto dipping mirror and illuminated sun visors?? Strangely the illuminated sunvisors rnt offered here, very lost i know, and neither is the auto dipping mirror, im assuming because the electric compass and homelink wont work in a different country. Oh and any talk of a dealer fit sunroof??

Well spotted.....i dont think anyone else noticed......I prefer the grey centre console personally.........I saw some pics somewhere where the centre console looks like carbon fibre close up??

I wonder why ours is black??

I dunno about the auto dipping mirror or sun visors.

No option of a sunroof at the moment.

The Centre Console does appear to be quite a bit darker than the US model, but it still has the texture (CF look) to it...

Dunno but I think I prefer it. I even did the centre console of my Tamiya model black 'cause I though it looked better.

 

Gizmo, only problem is that there is a mismatch now with the Bose.

I wouldnt rely too much on Nissan changing the color of the Bose deck, not when they dont give the Aus market vanity mirrors that r on US cars.....so loony, still dont quite understand

Im guessing the centre console may either b a) a running change from 03 model to 04 model, or most likely b) a change to suit buyers in the UK market.

Having seen the black console, i still prefer the grey, tho quality could b better. And i guess the grey deck is the perfect excuse to update the sound system

 

Wow, this is not something I even noticed in person, when sat in the car for ages! I guess it might be one of those things that shows up worse on photos. I will check if I have some better photos of the console.

Did you see my post over at 350zuk.com with yesterday's pictures from MotorDrive Live? My summary - the Alezan leather is gorgeous. Yes, even on the steering wheel.

 

Ok, this is a pic from my phone-cam so please excuse the quality.

The Bose unit is a paler colour, but I think it looks fine. It's just the stereo, the cubby hole above it is black again. As I said, I didn't even notice this in person, but I did notice on the US cars that the entire centre console was grey and I thought that looked weird. I much prefer our version.

 

Speaking of the stereo, I am surprised that in this day and age they haven't given it a removable faceplate (at least it doesn't look like it's removable) or had a pull down cover for it.

I wonder how long before the Basildon scum try to nick mine?

IMHO the stereo needs to match the console.......one way or the other. I prefer the grey console in this instance. At the moment it seems obvious that the stereo manufacturers hadn't been told of the change to black....I hope that they sort it out, even though you are right, it probably looks fine.....but WE know that its not how it's meant to be. It would annoy me everytime i looked at it.

Hopefully thats what the big sticker refers to about this not being the final production version.

What else has changed for the US spec? So far we have:

1) Orange Leather gear ****, handbrake and steering wheel

2) Telephone controls on the steering wheel

3) Centre console colour [looks like they forgot to change the stereo colour!!].

4) Oblong rear number plate recess

5) Spoiler fitted as standard to rear

6) Someone mentioned that we have a fog light as standard....surprised they dont have that in the US?

7) BOSE system sorted we are told

8) Someone mentioned that they are working on improving the mechanism on the flap on the centre console.....

9) Bigger fuel tank

Has anyone spotted any more changes?

Orange on chorme.....I read your posts on this......one day they were saying "yes", then "dunno", then "no", then ???? .....!!! Whatever next. I like the silver / orange combo. Hope they do it for you in the end.

12 - US don't have side repeaters - JDM do - We are getting the clear lens / orange bulb repeaters as the JDM model (mounted just below the side Z emblem)

13 - Headlamp washers - if you look at the Brands photos (from Gizmo & girlracer) you'll see the covers on the front bumper
