The left side of the wheel contains the telephone pickup button (I think) and the Stereo volume controls... there was another button there... might have been radio mute or something???
Nice to see the resdesigned back in the flesh so to speak, looks good...
Some wag had put a Citroen Pelvia (?) leaflet in the boot! :-)

Trust me, the orange leather is fab. We have similar weather here in Seattle to what you guys do across the pond, and while it's not as stunning when the weather is overcast, it's still very chic.
I'm jealous you guys get the radio controls on the wheel. And yeah, that orange on the wheel, parking break and shift **** has to go... that's just too much...

what a day! traffic sucks. 2 hours to travel less than 40 miles - then back again. £20 to get into the bloody place too!
I'm afraid the Nissan official working the stand informed me that the orange leather on the gearknob, handbrake lever and bottom of steering wheel is as it will be in production. Yikes. I'm really hoping she was wrong...
Not sure about the orange in the flesh. Looked a little bright, but then again in an orange car it was just too much and kind of clashed with the paintwork shade. It looked a bit 'sporty' as opposed to 'classy', which is not the look I was after.
Ah well, I'm hoping as a contrast to a much darker car (ie: gun metal or black) it may look good. Too late anyway!
Having said that - the photos make it look really nice! Maybe the lighting was weird at the show...
However.... I must say, the car itself looked awesome.
Much more stunning than the silver Japanese version I saw at Guildford Nissan. I think the silver maybe washes out the sharp lines a little, but they were there in full on the orange (and I'm actually not that keen on the colour). The wheels looked gorgeous, and the car looks so much better from the back with a long UK size number plate - just balances everything out a bit better I think.
Steering wheel: right is cruise controls and radio volumes, left is phone stuff.
I have to go to a rehearsal, but I will post the rest of the pics when I get back around 11:30pm.... can you wait?!

Cool. Look forward to the pictures.
Can you give an details on how the car felt in terms of quality? i.e leather finish, control feel, etc. Was it different from the Japanese car you talked about earlier?
Cheers

The shiny bits are very attractive though, they give it a quality feel without looking OTT.

Nice pictures girlracer. I like the rear numberplate being normal UK size rather than square. The orange leather looks good but I think just on the seats!
Did the car feel well finished inside? That is my only real concerm as externally it looks great and I am sure it will drive well. Having driven my friends Boxster S I hope my expectations are not set too high!

Great pics!
I wish we could get the radio controls on the wheel....maybe 2004?
I noticed that the UK version has a rear fog light. Does it have a separate switch, or is it activated with the regular head light switch? I've always thought an extra BRIGHT red lamp should be used on US cars. The US Mini owners successfully petitioned BMW to get the US cars rear fog light activated.
You guys get all the cool stuff!

Good call, girlracer
Thanks for the excellent recon trip.
Did you get a chance to talk to anyone from Nissan with regards the specification (?) & whether there was any chance to lobby them for changes (!) i.e. back to US spec. Alezan
Geez, what sort of focus group did they put that one in front of

great photos!
Why couldn't they do the wheel black on the top and bottom and orange where you hold it? (my lexus is like that and it looks ok - although its silvery/gold rather than orange)
do you know if the black leather will have the orange stitching ?

He hasn't got back to me yet......it must be all those orange leather complaints flooding in.......
I want a proper finished design that looks like it has been thought about, or seats only in orange! Does everyone agree???

I called Nissan UK and spoke to a very helpful friendly person called Sarah. I explained our horror at the placement of the orange bits, and she said that since the cars were custom ordered it would probably not be too late to actually ask our dealers to tell the factory to change them to how we wanted them. The interiors go in last, so even if the cars are in build right now the interior bits won't be installed for a while. She said to get onto it today though to stand a chance.
I'm waiting for a call back from my dealer (he was busy with a customer when I rang). I may also take my laptop and show him the evidence, as he has the exact same spec car ordered as me so he may be interested!
I am also going to fire off an email to Nissan. I don't see why we should all have to hope that our cars can be customised to exclude the extra orangey bits when we're all in agreement that we'd rather just have orange seats, like the US and Japan did. Someone high and mighty at Nissan made a decision that the UK market would like extra areas of orange, and they were dead wrong!
