ZdayZ 2009
I will be right in line behind Doug, Brian, Justin and whom ever tends to line up for the morning runs.
Dude a word of serious advice. And I say this b/c people here seem to like you and I don't want anything bad to happen....Not to bring anyone down or anything but I feel that this needs to be said....and then I'll shut my old pregnant *** up and let you figure it out yourself....Yeah the dragon is bad *** and a TON OF FUN to drive, but you MUST must must respect it. PLEASE don't get all *** happy and drive like it's your personal rollercoaster. First off, each ZDAYZ that I've been to, at LEAST one Z car has been totaled. Second, at least one person (usually bikers) DIES on the dragon each year. It's not a playground.
Here are a few reasons I say this, and then again, I'll shut up and the fun and games can commence again.
Here is our dear friend, who had driven on the dragon previously. He saw the killboy photogs and decided to "show off" a little bit.....happened in a split second even tho the pics seem slow mo
Sweet, killboy is takin my pic

Let's goose it a lil show him what we got (note crossing the yellow line a lil bit, and yeah, he got a ticket for crossing the yellow line)

Uh oh this could be bad

Yeah, it's bad

Awwww fuuuuuuuuuuuuck now what

that's what--and yeah he had to pay for this too

He got off pretty easy if you ask any of us.....

And our friend Gerry's car after the dragon bit.....

So, to recap, the dragon is not your friend, it's dangerous. It's a LOT of fun if you drive w/in reason and are responsible. Don't cross that yellow line either, you never know when a semi or a biker will be in your lane, or both lanes, the next turn you take................

Thank you for your advice and I wouldn't put my g/f's or anyone else life at risk accept my own. At any rate im going to see some nice curves other than my g/fs.
. I can't wait to meet you.

And boo on youtube for taking down the soundtrack that Lee had incorporated into this vid b/c it was kick *** but here's ONE of the vids.....I'm glad I have my own copy w/ the music on it....

We were looking for these the other day!! Buddy definitely got lucky. Coulda been A LOT worse.
For those of you who are rushing to do mods for this event, please take your time and get to know your car's setup BEFORE going down the Dragon.
I just lowered, added sways , wheels , tires and aligned. Last night was the first time I drove it in the rain and holy crap was it unstable. It felt like the back end was breaking loose at every opportunity. Tread is in great shape, perhaps I need someone to do some corner balancing? I drove like a Grandma the rest of the way home. On the dry, it handles like a mad tabby on a thick **** carpet.
Point is that I would have been completely fawked if I was caught in the rain for the first time while travelling up the mountain. Those mountain roads can hold slick spots in the shade long after the rain is gone. (I used to live 30 minutes away from the Dragon in Loudon County.)

So my buddy I am trying to get to come to document this and he actually is doing a school project showed me these vids and of course he is a vw fan but we need to get some vids like this to shut the vw guys up.

I liked the music in both videos.
And amen to what Terri had to say about being careful on the Dragon. First year I was there, I drove in at night and during a tropical storm. That was fun and not fun at the same time. I was more concerned about trees and branches in my way.
Thanks for the well wishes, guys and gals. Hopefully, I can make it next year. Until then, I'll explore the roads around here.
It is so hot out. I just Washed then clay bar'd, then washed again, Wax then gloss enhancer then some more wax and some more gloss enhancer all by hand no tools. On top of getting locked out of my car with my cell phone and house key's in it.... Needless to say the car looks amazing even with the busted out window... J/k lol luckily pop-a-lock was quick.
I thought i had the full version saved to my computer but I cannot find it....sorry
If I do come across it I will burn you a copy....
I'll never be able to thank you enough (still) for taking the time to make sure that I was OK driving down the first time....you were nice enough to keep stopping to make sure I hadn't flown off the edge or something....in the dark on the wet roads I was scarrrrrrred shitless....
I think the first 5 seconds was still the best part of the entire vid

Yeah could have been a LOT LOT LOT worse.....he was the luckiest person on the dragon that day for sure............
And Karen STILL married him after that
LOL!!!!
and Pamela, that "G" was Graham....and not sure anyone got a pic of that although I did see a pic of it on the back of the flat bed.....that was painful....not sure that picture was saved. Last year there were quite a few Z's/G's down.....

Like Terri said, it was Graham. I was a few turns back behind Justin when it happened, and he did not get hit by a truck, he went off into the mountain to avoid a truck. There might have been a few pictures, I didn't take any because it felt like kicking a man while he was down.
Truth be told that pic isn't that bad....actually looks like Graham is just sittin there hanging out LOL!.....I'm looking forward to seeing him again, he's coming right? I think his Mom lives very close to where my mom keeps her horses out in VA.....we had a good time chatting it up one night at dinner....
