The decibel level is a toss up I guess. I'm glad my Invidia exhaust looks stock as opposed to the more aggresive looking ones. I can say however that most cops look at the car different from most ricer honda's. I have had cops pull up on me and compliment the car as looking more expensive than it looks. I was in Hollywood and a Deputy sheriff asked me if he could take a closer look at my car.

On a side note I am sure all the illegal street racing played its part in this. It is just another reason to always keep it on the track guys. Lame laws like this can come to a state near you if you give them a reason to...

Has anyone thought about putting together a petition or something? I am sure with all the car enthusiasts you would have no shortage of support!

CA is pretty strict, but it's not nearly as bad as the vid makes it out to be.

Why live here? Uh, perpetual sunny weather and huge financial/job oppurtunities are a place to start...

I drive a lowered Eclipse with intake/exhaust and I'm NEVER hassled by the police...

Here's why: I don't have gay-*** stickers/decals/graphics on my car, my exhaust is deep and fairly mellow (not like those coffee can tips on Civics), I have a front plate, and I don't go around revving on everyone...

Moral of the story: Don't blatantly advertise your mods, and don't drive like a maniac to draw unwanted attention to yourself...its that easy

^^I will agree drawing attention to yourself with stickers and/or a loud azz exhaust is just going to get you pulled no matter where you live.

As for why people live in CA, I think it's just the sunny weather...

Whats with the whole street legal BS? How come its illegal to lower your car but its ok to buy motorcycles that go almost 200 mph. WTF!?!?!

On a side note I lived in CA for a while..cops don't really care about that stuff. .

Wow thats bad

Exhaust systems which meet smog requirements but are still too loud. Exhaust equipment that states it is, "Legal in all 50 states," refers to smog, not noise.
Note: New law (27150.2 VC) does not require law enforcement to use sound level meters to test for excessive noise. Citation is based on officer's judgment. Cited violators may have testing done at smog referee stations or may be directed by the court to have testing done. Vehicles in violation must be brought into compliance. A fine may also be imposed.

It really depends on where in California you live too. It IS that bad in places like Irvine and Tustin. I know cause I used to live there. The cops do pull you over just because of an altered exhaust and lowered vehicle. I live in Las Vegas now and when I was pulled over here once the officer said I was going 65 in a 45 when in reality I was doing 50 and not 1 mph faster. He asked if I had nitrous which thank god I had already taken off to put on the Z.

In most states they'll get you if your nitrous bottle is open when they pull you over. But you can have it if it's closed. In Cali I don't think it's permitted whatsoever. I dunno what they'd say if you had an automatic bottle opener.
