Someone else HAS to notice this.
The online video that showcases the Z in true one-sided fashion can be found on youtube.... I believe it is an old "muscle car" Dodge Charger vs. a Z (Z looks absolutely stock). Needless to say this built muscle car murders the Z off the line and the Z driver just puts on his brakes and quits.
Now I know these aren't the videos you mentioned of Accords, Civics etc. etc. beating the Z but this is another example of the Z getting killed. It is either cars we should beat hands down or just videos of one sided races where a Z doesn't stand a chance.

My problem with starting from rest in 1st gear when the light turns green is that it seems like if I want to keep up with traffic, I have to give it a decent amount of throttle, which makes all sorts of intake/exhaust noise (and I have the Fujitsubo exhaust so it's not naturally that loud) and I don't like it when people think I am trying to race. I have the manual transmission so I realize there is some delay vs. an auto because I am trying to gently engage the clutch, but once the clutch is engaged I have to give it a pretty good amount of gas to catch up with the honda accords of the world. A lot of times I will take 1st gear up to 3-3.5k or so, the shift quickly into 2nd where I feel like I actually have some significant mechanical advantage.
I don't really think this car, in its stock form, is intended to be a drag racing monster. It's intended to be a "downshift into third while going 80 mph and hold onto your ***" monster.
Back to the noise thing, I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the moms, business men, girls, others around here who are not car enthusiasts (or maybe they are, who knows) just mash the gas in their slush-box equipped cars every time the light turns green. Then they mash on the brakes when the light turns red. Personally, I try to gently engage the clutch when starting from rest, then anticipate stops so I can brake softer over a longer distance. Anyway, these people are mashing the gas on a 4 or 6 cylinder family sedan which makes basically no noise, so it seems like their cars are moving effortlessly. Our cars on the other hand make a whole bunch of racket that seems to increase proportionally with the decreasing distance between the floor and your foot. So in order to keep up, I feel like the Z makes a lot of noise which makes it seem like my car is working a lot harder to accelerate as quickly as a 6-cyl. accord. Maybe it's just me. Anyway I've come to terms with just taking my time taking off, then mashing the throttle once I'm in 2nd gear. I may not get to 60' first, but I'll win in the qurater mile.

seems simple to me - the lesser import cars wanna race the Z since it's one of the fastest imports. The bigger engine cars want to race the Z's because they're usually easy targets for them
the Z wasnt designed for drag anyway.Who cares, take the Z on a road race course with some R compounds and please read what the Z was designed for upon taking a apex compared to a civic or many of the cars that it gets killed at in a straight line. Compare gs overall and the overall track worthyness of the car and you find out why its designed the way it is. When i had my 04 i used to get pissed to see the car run its best of 13.7 and see it get comparable times to a srt-4 etc. But then i went to pocono and saw Zs and other srt-4s and comparble cars GTOs i mean the lot. And thats when i saw Z in apexs takign down 350hp 400hp muscle cars and the sports compacts with ease. I mean sure the 50+ sports cars gave it a run for its money but man. Seeing a Z at a road course is seeing a Z in its habitat. Why even do anything else with it lol. My opinion.
and for the other guy, the Z was designed to compete with teh boxer series porshes thus the resemblance .
Z-boxer series
GTR- Porshe 911

I got picked on the other night, by a guy and his buddy in a 99 civic si. We went from a roll while I was low in third, probably 2500ish, out of my powerband I know. He got the jump on me, and I started catching him, right as he shifted to fourth, I was passing him, while I'm still in third gear, I shut down after a car length, never got out of third. We stopped at the next light and I told the driver he had a nice car, it was clean looking, a clean drop stock wheels stock body, I give credit where it is due, he admired the Z, we both had intakes. His passenger proceeds to run off about how much faster my car would be with a five speed and how a Z has some of the shortest gears, blah, blah, blah and he's driven his buddies, its torquey but slow, blah, blah, blah. I just couldn't believe the ignorance that people can pick up from a forum.
It does more than go fast straight.

its because for the most part, only douchebags post up those videos. whether they be the Z owner or the person racing the Z.
the Z isnt meant to be a dragstrip car anyways. shoulda got an srt-4 if your ego is hurt by teenage boy racers and their streetfire kills
to driven csz...lmao! that was an awesome comment about the ego!
anyhoo, i knind of feel for the guy who is saying that our car is kinda loud and feels like you really have to mash the gas to get er to keep up with mini vans and such but i really try to baby mine off the line. i think its cause i am so not used to the engine noise...but if you think it sounds loud @ 3.5k and it feels like the car is stressin, its just because you arent used to the engine noise...shift at 5k and you'll see that there is a big difference! but man people have thanked me for talking to them about my car and people are always staring and waving and pointing///the car looks sweet and it has allot of popularity out there. not to mention it has some great perf. that almost always gets my heart throbbinng and my bowls on the verge of bursting open and making a mess in me pantaloons! but yeah if you didnt get the car for yourself and all you are interested in is a fast 0-60 car then go and trade in your Z for something else. i bought mine because it is a bad *** ride and not what others think of it...who gives a crap!

oh yeah one more thing...well two more. speed is relative. when i am in my winter car or in other cars that i have owned they have felt fast to me because A) i am paying the loans and B) if you are used to the car you can drive it more comfortably and aggressively. if all you have is 100hp and thats all you know then of course you think it is fast....its all you know. and secondly its easy to get used to the power that you have and eventhough you have a 400+hp car and you have the need for speed, then you will be used to it and soon want more. and also, if you listen to a ferrarri or a lambo or what ever (not comparing them to the zee ) they all sound really loud eventhough they are just getting started at a slower speed. lets face some facts though our car is not a light to light racer but if you check out some 0-60 times of other cars, we beat allot of them...even some older ferarri's and def. most of the old stock muscle cars ever made...and btw, they are almost all loud. you just need to be happy with what you have and take pride in your ride...if you dont like it sell it and give someone else a chance to own a part of history and for me, part of a dream come true(i know i will never own a porsche or lambo) and once i pay the f***er off then i will modd it and i will be able to feed my ego more. all i know is my car kicks *** and if you dont then yer just sitting in the wrong seat!
