I'm not too much of a "street racer", I'd prefer to go by numbers from the track or maybe a good one or two gear pull on an empty two-lane road if the opportunity is prime, but I like to watch the videos online just to see how the Z holds up.

Pretty much any video you see on youtube or streetfire, etc... our cars, regardless of mods, are losing to or tying with some of the dumbest vehicles.

I know I'm not the only one who notices this. It's almost suspicious.

You see accord vs. 350z, and you think, oh wow that's not even a race. Then you click and their sitting at the tree. The light turns, and the 350z just sort of limps off the line and runs like a 14.7 or something retarded.

Don't even bother trying to open a WRX vs. 350z video.

Then, you have videos you think are in the bag, like "Greddy TT 350z vs. EVO IX with bolt-ons and tune"

The first thing you think is, "Well, I know right now that my car is pretty close to an EVO, I can't imagine a TT losing to this"

Then the video starts, it's a clean race, and the Z just sort of hangs back.

I know this is only going to heat up some of the other guys who've dumped $20,000k into their Z, but Audible ran a 10, so i know good numbers are possible. I think our weakest link is our damn launch. 1st gear is worthless.

it's all about the driver ;\ i know the 06 Z's with bad drivers were running almost 15 seconds at Commerce Track in Atlanta GA, my 04 stock ran a 13.9 there.. it's all about the driver.. if you dont shift properly or you suck at launching you're gonna get romped ;\

this guy has a civic Si and beats a 350z? i remember the DAY i got my Z i beat a brand new Si by almost 3 busses, and that was my first manual!

Wheew! I was beginning to think people might not know what I was talking about. Heh. Yea, I always feel weary before clicking on a 350z link.

 

LOL. Im actually debating wether to get one or not, so I always go on and check out videos on cars Id like to get. Right now I have an S4, good amount of winning videos heh, barely any on the Z and its frustrating. Not even are there small amounts of winning races, there are barely any of them RACING at all...agreed Ice.

 

Funny how I just get done saying I don't street-race often, yet one of the few times I have has been against this red S4 in my town. Real nice korean guy, good sport, had a chat at the gas station. Went twice (roll 25-75mph), and each time I shot out at first by half a car, then he started reeling me in real slow. Like 3 feet per his shift. Would have been interesting on road capable of 100mph+ speeds.

 

+1 all hype, if some kids in a neon pull up to me videotaping chances are I'm gonna go the other direction but the video would say "stock neon kills 350Z" what a joke.

 

we do not own the fastest car on the planet, get over it. There is always some one faster than you out there. But if we wanted speed only we would buy an old Mustang GT and mod the crap out of it to make 9 million hp to the wheels. We like style, that's why we drive the Z.

 

Yes, like a Redline, or Civic SI? I understand where you're coming from, but I'm not exactly comparing stock Z's to NHRA Drag cars here.

Don't let them get you down. I have had one street race and it was with a Dodge Neon SRT-4 - turbocharged. Now at the time I was 100% stock. I took him with ease. I may not be the best street racer, and I know what the Z can take. Most of what you see on those Vids is like everyone says. "Kids"
The Z is Awesome Car With Great Looks. Think about this this way. Your out at Spring Break in Panama City Beach. There is you an some Civic. Which car gets the looks and the half necked babes. You do do the math.

most of these videos are very byist... and everyone street racing at a 30 to 40mph roll is just plain dumb to me.. take it to the track and get some time slips then we can talk who has the faster car... and i do very much agree that its all about the driver too.. if you cant drive... u will get spanked even if its a civic people... and there are lots of 4bangers pumping 300 to the wheels in cali.... with awesome drivers...

 

that commerce track is known to kill 1/4 mile times though (i don't know what it is about that track.. but no one seems to get good times there).... everyone i've spoken with has done at least 0.4 seconds better down at the reynolds, ga racetrack.

 

13.9 stock is a damn good time for that track.

 

The 350Z with street tires is good for 2.0 second 60-foot times. Some cars are faster. Other cars are not.

 

I don't care if my car is the fastest off the line or not. It's a lot more fun on a mountain road than just about anything else I've driven. I don't feel the need to prove anything to a ricer kid.

 

The general consesious must be that Z's are not fast or something, cause I constantly have people trying to race me in everything from pile of riced-out **** honda's to full-size SUVs... I don't even race anymore unless I think they *might* be a challege. The Z is not slow by any means.... Does every idiot out there try to race 911's & vettes too??

 

some need the driver mod, but regardless of the driver mod we are still heavy as hell. many of the cars that want to race the Z are very light in comparrison to the Z. you can't expect to win a race when your up against a modded car with a curb weight of 2500lbs.
