me to i wonder if it will affect exhaust flow though not having the dump tube go back into the exhaust. prolly have to just cap off where it goes back in?

Right. The only opening would be having the wastegate dump to atmosphere. Make sure you have a 2-bolt pipe on it to keep the exhaust gas away when it opens.
