Some Friendly filming advice
I come humbly as I am very new to this. This may not be the place to post but if it isn't please direct me to the correct location. I love the videos of event coverage. I'm wondering how do they get some of the shots. The one that catches my eye are the slide. Its done so perfectly and fluently. I also see the pole that many of them use to get smooth rotations and high and low elevation. Is this a homemade gig that people use or are there poles specifically made to screw in a camera. Any advice, input, and help will be taken seriously. I have a Nikon d3100 and do alot of photography but I want to take advantage of the 1080p that it has to offer.
I am a 3D artist for a living. No matter how steady your camera rig or hands are, there will still be camera shakes. The way to combat this is by Image/ movie stabilization. I use Adobe After Effects for compositing (when my work requires it) and there are alot of tricks to stablizing images. If you google stabilzing camera rig, you might find some homemade ways to help your shooting be as stable as possible. For me it helps when I sway the camera in the shot, ( like let the camera hang from your arms like a monkey, dont flex to try to FORCE the camera to stay still) Here is a free tutorial to aid you in footage stablization.
Enjoy!
