I agree to a certain extent...But just because the Berks are a little cheaper doesn't mean that they are crap..I know your trying to sell the Crawfords and all, so I do understand your basis..Berks has been around for a while and has produced some nice products for the S2000's so I know they are a pretty reliable company and have great customer service...
Not to call you out on the subject of quality, but hasn't there been some problems with the Crawford HFC's on some cars???? I did some research on the Crawfords and it seems some people have had them crumble apart on the inside..Correct if I'm wrong and again, not trying to start an argument, but if I 'm going to buy a $500+ part, I want to make sure it is a top notch part that will last...I'm sure you understand being a Z enthusiast as you stated.
Let me see if I can answer some of these questions.
The cell count is simply the amount of cells or openings per square inch, i.e., a 400 cell cat will have 400 cells per square inch while a 300 cell cat will have only 300 cells per square inch, so the more cells per square inch the better the flow.
Now we have the debate of whether to go with metal substrate or ceramic. Nissan in their oem cat design has the ceramic cat in front, closest to the engine exhaust manifold, and metal in the rear because the ceramic will hold up to the upstream exhaust heat far better. As I remember 3 years ago, one manufacturer had all kinds of issues using metal cats so close to the exhaust manifold because a lot of them melted down.
Our cats do have ceramic substrate and the 400 cell count per square inch with a much larger cross section than a lot of the other cats available, which means they will absolutely flow more.
As far as the ceramic substrate melting down or cracking yes it can happen if you rev or high rev the engine cold which dumps a lot of excess fuel on them, turbo motors can do the same thing because they run such an excessively rich fuel mixture.

^^ Thanks for the responze Mr. Crawford. Sounds like your cats are good quality/designed well, but can you provide evidence your cats flow better than Berk (Berks HFCs produced 7.8rwhp and 10ft-lb torque - Metallic HFC)? Can you perform/post before and afters with oem and then your cats on an 07 Z?

Sorry we don't have an 07 car to dyno at this time, we do know that on the old cars the cat's dynoed consistently 6 to 8 rwhp. Besides if we did do a dyno on the cats most people wouldn't believe it anyway, because the manufacture preformed it, at least that has been the consensus in the past.
