There is a little bit to be gained in the filter element because the OEM filters that are used are mainly for filtration and not performance. So using a dry performance drop in filter will help a bit. The main idea is preventing heat soak which the OEM plastic airbox does very well.

Oh and Z1 has a sick intake on his car, Gruppe-M ftmfw!!!! I miss mine, I wish they made a kit for the HR's.
Gruppe M is the sexy.. Many e46s use to rock the kevlar versions.. 600 plus just for a friggen tube and a filter... of course hp gains was a debate

Eh i like stock and love my low end torque Thank YOU.. I've lost low-end power on aftermarket intakes with 2 previous cars not worth it IMO. Yes i gained a little power after 7000RPM what normal person drives at that?

before and after dyno would be great

before and after trap speed at the track installed at the track would be ideal
if anyone actually goes though the trouble of doing this, do an easy launch so that its easily repeatable... i can hope can't i

"the tone of the engine due to the dual 6 inch venturis is definitely the most beautiful sound ever heard from a VQ engine!"

The intakes arrived on Friday and I installed them yesterday. The installation was pretty straightforward and fairly simple, even for someone who doesn't do alot of mechanical work (me).

As I've done the installation myself I've no dyno figures. Even if I did have it dyno'd I doubt I would post it after the silly string of conversation with Julian of MRC posted the gain (20hp) after I had my stock exhaust replaced for a TurboXS.

I lived in London for a few years and drove Alfa Romeo's and also had a Maserati.

Although I loved the driving dynamics of my 350z especially since I've now an 07 I always thought the car lacked the sonic orgasm that one finds in Italian cars. The Alfa six was/is a particularly amazing engine and it's a shame that most on this board will have never heard one let alone driven one.

I no longer feel that way after the installation of these dual pop chargers. The engine note at a leisurely pace is close to the same as before, the sound under throttle is simply fearsome. Surely rivaling that of the Alfa 147 GTA.

Now I'm sure some will say its a lot of money for a sound modification and empirical data is needed (dyno) and if that's your view, don't get a pair if you can't afford it and if you do go off and dyno it if that's what makes you happy (not to mention the doubt you'd really see a dyno gain, airflow and all that). Having performance cars for a long time I can tell the throttle response is slightly improved and it surely, in my opinion, revs more freely. And did I mention the sound is fearsome?

It appears exactly as it does in Wolf's photos but I will post photos and a sound clip next weekend as I'm traveling for business next week.

Warm regards and a happy holiday to all.
