Default Did I ruin my car?

I feel so stupid now its not even funny...

Ok here is a little back ground story. I start going back to school after taking nearly 5 years of from school and just finishing up my undergrad for my Pharmacy school. And I got this lame *** night shift job at a pharmacy as a clerk just trying to get a position as a Pharmacy tech, because as a tech they help you pay for school. So after working there for 4 months busting my *** and what not I get the promotion. Today I went out to get a hair cut and buy some new dress shirts for my first day tomorrow I get a call from my boos, he tells me to come in by 5 too sing some paper work or I might lose my promotion as the GM got some one else he wants there and I must have that stuff singed as I am hired and have dibs on it. I had 15 minutes to cover a 45 min drive, I step into my new 08 406miles on 350z and rape it to make it to work. I took nearly every geat to over 6k rpm , I am breaking this thing in with shifts between 3-4k is my motor ruined?

I know some of you might find this silly, but I have been waiting since 02 to get my self a Z and now I did and I respect the things I get my self. I am not rich nore do I have a mom or dad that pay for everything for me, I hope this thing is gona be fine. Oh yeah I got the job, and in 3 months I get my first tuition check from them. The pharmacist there is a real nice guy, and says I should use the company for whats it worth. Also when I apply for a job as a Pharmacist I can get paid a whole lot more having 4-6 years of work experience.

you are fine. i would change the oil , and forget about it. you will not keep that car long enough to worry about this. and one more thing. your job is what 's important. You can always buy a new, better car.

If you didn't break in the car brand new, you are not going to run into problems until later down the road. Not now.

Is there a hole in the bottom of the motor with oil pouring out?

I don't believe in engine break-in periods. Besides piston rings seating, what needs to break in? Engines are designed to work and last. There are very few soft parts within an engine.

Relax.

Hope everything goes well with your job / school.

phew guys thanks a bunch.... lol I came home let my car cool down started it up and could swear I was hearing things from the engine. I knew I was reading into things but I just like my car a lot and remember putting up posters back in HS on my wall dreaming of my Z as I saved up for it. Then came realty and my savings had to go to other things and now I need to pay off 20 grand lol.

Ruined, no. It's prolly thanking you.

A lot of engine builders will tell you that your engine is pretty much broken in the first time it reaches full operating temps (oil fully warmed up).

I was racing my Evo during my test drive and after 26k haven't had one issue.

You're really supposed to break it in hard... 3 3rd gear rips from ~2-3k all the way to redline and then let the engine brake back down. After that, your engine is good to go.

Tony (will listen to performance engine builders before anyone else)

Yup , its best to break it in right. Cars that are broken in Granny style seem to have lots of problems.

Honestly, you can go either way. As long as you take care of it (proper maintanence) the engine will be fine. Just if you're more worried about performance, you want to make absolute sure those piston rings are seated properly. And there's only one way to do that...

I disagree. I remember when my brother first got his G35coupe a few years ago. He redlined that sucker like nobodies business. He was just pounding and raping that car. I told him to take it easy, but he didn't care. To this day, and quote me on this, he has 76,000miles on his odo and he has had ZERO problems with that car. Kudos to Nissan.

nice! Change that banner to "I have the first ruined 08"

joking, of course. I had about 450 miles on my 07 and took her on a meet to Skyline Drive. Not gentle at all.
