So long as you have a Flat (safe) place to test your car, Most GTech type systems are actually Quite Accurate. Car And Driver Did a Test on them a year or so ago.

I personally own a Beltronics Vector FX2. Works well.

0-60? why are people so wrapped up in 0-60 times? has to be the worst stat to compare when it comes to performance. only newbs and magazine ****** care about 0-60.. now if you are worried about 60ft times then thats a whole different matter.

Sorry, to rile everyone, acceleration is definately not linear and there are a ton of variables. I just thought it was intereting simple math number, shouldn't have posted it, my bad.

Anyone else tried or can you try so I dont think Im crazy.
Your not crazy you just cant launch. A car will do what the driver can do. I was using a GT2 timer on stock sized tires with a passenger hitting 4.9 0-60 with a few bolt-ons. That same timer was within hundreths of a seconds accurate with the track timer when I compared. Keep practicing...btw a stop watch is the worst way. GTECH's sucked back in the day but many timers now a days are VERY accurate, lots of wheel spin throws the trap off some though but ET is right on in my experiences testing them.

According to that timer I do 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds on slicks

You know what, you are probably right. Im just so nervous cause EZ lube forgot to tighten the drain bolt and it fell out and I lost alot of oil driving and my car sounds alittle wierd when Its running cold.

WTF!!!!! Damage has been done-your car is dying of automotive AIDS as we speak. You will never achieve a good 0-60 time, in fact the more you push the sooner you will spin a bearing. Have a great day!

FWIW, I got 5.8 just playing around with a G-Tech. I actually dumped the clutch so the launch wasn't good at all. I'd say the flat 5 second area is definitely possible.

0-60 is retarded and provides absolutely no indication of how quickly a vehicle can travel a particular distance.

Come on, it's a general indicator although admittedly it means nothing at a drag strip. Did you ever consider that perhaps some could care less about 1/4 mile times?

Truth is that in the real world (let's say stop light to stop light) the car with the lower 0-60 is going to get there first. Not every time perhaps, but most of the time. Personally I don't care much for that kind of thing, but I can certainly see how it's a valid measurement...albeit not for a dragstrip measure of performance.

wow...i wonder what thats like.

But in all honesty, can anyone really feel the difference between a few tenths of a second? Unless its a second margin, I woudlnt be too excited about it.

but of course, thats unless you do it in less than 3...

Feels amazing-like the hand of god pushing you down the track I can tell the difference bewteen .1 just by the first 60ft (launch) at a track, but Ive been drag racing for 8 years now so my butt dyno/timer is more sensitive than most others.
