I'll be there. Hopefully with lower tire pressure next time

5k launch with as much clutch slip as you can get without boiling the fluid. The longer you can keep the car in the 4,800-5,500 range (until it needs to rev higher) the better because you'll be launching at peak torque. Keep the tires just at the verge of spinning and you'll be accelerating as fast as you can.

If you do spin (for a base model) let off, let the tire grab and as its starting to grab very slowly get back into full throttle. You'll do better than spinning to 90 (which is retarded and if you think you're benefitting yourself to shift while spinning you really need to read up on drag racing).

You're right I do need to show some proof. i was just helping the OP because you do not need some track times to explain why you are going sideways at 1200rpms.. Theres only ONE reason why someone will lose mad traction and get sideways at 1200rpms, and thats by dumping. That's all. I'm not claiming to be some sick drag racer. I'm just giving him advice based on common knowledge I know. Very persistant on searching to see if are members on there eh? All good though. I feel you. But like I said, theres common knowledge that can be passed around w/out track times to prove it. Now if I were claiming that my HFC increased my trap speed, thats something else. I've been to the track in other cars, just not this one yet.. just got it few months back.

Feathering is releasing it slowly, dumping is just dropping it before it engages.

that would glaze the hell out of your clutch.
that might be a good way (in some weird bizzaro world), but i can garuntee you that it will be a very expensive launch.

the way i do it is wen im revving to around 2500 rpms i kno my sweet spot on my clutch so i release the clutch at the sweet spot floor the gas and hold the clutch in place til i reach maximum traction then i fully disengage it. works everytime and i get great launches

That's great and all, but you need to prove your technique works by posting a time slip here:

Call me crazy but my clutch is fine. I did this over 120 times in my BBMW, no glazed clutch but great 60/330' times.

Go figure it works in the Z, and 10k miles later the car still drives fine.

tell that to his record fastest stock z run of 13.239 @ 105.67

and to op, read www.rangeracceleration.com

the only thing different for a z than a vette is that u don't need to do a burnout like he describes, just a short peel out to clean off ur tires of all the debris u picked up, and u do pick up debris, so don't skip it, cleaning off ur tires is essential to a good time

Meh, Veetec will shred it soon enough, ironically using the launching strategy that I copied to run that time

^ i dont' think he'll "shred" it, if he does beat it, it won't be by much, i don't think the hr has a 13.1 in it, but i've been wrong before

Haha DavidV does make a good point though - why post random advice when you haven't proved that it works? If you think you know how to launch a car it doesn't mean squat if you can't back it up with some good numbers.

Ask Alberto....that guy is good at drag racing. He's running a TT setup but he was once N/A and can give you good pointers.

I think it does.

Its in the traps, my 1/8th and 1/4 traps are slower than others. Its like the Z06 10 second time.

A low 13.1 maybe even 13.0x time will happen eventually if enough people run.

I'm on the GT wheels though, so its up to Veetec to break it, and his tires are shot (he said).
