Default Berk HFC hissing?

Well last week I installed some Berk HFC's in my HR and ever since then I hear a hissing sound coming from the back end of the car. It only seem to be doing it when I'm in gear and let off the gas. The car runs fine but there is a tad less power in the lower rpm, once I hit 5k rpm it kicks hard. Anyone experience this? I have a JYC Y pipe going to a Fujitsubo Legalis R. Other then the hissing, I've been very happy with the Berks.

I have the same sound, I believe its just backpressure. We used exhaust leak test on the whole car and found no leaks. Maybe Brian at Berk can explain more about this sound.

i have a sound at the high rpms thats been pissing me off too... i wouldnt call it a hiss though.. more of a raspy rattle... but i thought HFCs werent supposed to rasp... im 95% happy about the Berk HFCs... if it wasnt for the rasp/rattle id be 110% happy...

No probs here, I get a little rasp in the first five minutes after start up but nothing constant. Have had it on for about 6-7 months now

High-flow catelitic converters and test pipes may make unusual sounds. Its just the way that they are.

if you have metallic, yes you will get a slight rasp first 5 mins. And the hissing noise is normal.. every Berk metallic HFC equipped Z has that sound.

sorry if this is a dumb question... but, how exactly does one do an "exhaust leak test" on the whole car?

its normal.

If you rev your motor in neutral you can hear it after the RPM's come back down right?

Not only is it normal on the berk pipes but i've heard it on other brands as well.

so its normal?? this is the question that stuck in my head all day now

i just put JVC HFC on my z and started to make some weird noise around 3k rpm

also the sound comes when rpm is going down,

the sound is hard to describe its like rasp and hissing and rasp mixed together.

also is there are front and back on gasket that comes with HFC??

i started to wonder that if there is Front and back on HFC than i must have put it in wrong...
errrr i am so noob..

i'm not sure about the sound your getting at 3k RPM, but like i said, if you hear a hissing sound, or a sound SIMILAR to a blow off valve after you rev and the RPM's are coming down, its normal.

Well, I just had my Crawford HFC's removed today and Berks installed instead (I was pretty happy with the Crawfords, but the Berks were getting good reviews here and when I saw them, just looked like a very nice product).
Maybe I will get used to it, but they almost sound like test pipes to me....loud and raspy Not sure if I am going to keep them on or not.

I always figured the crawfords would sound better. Would you like another pair of berk hfcs?
