Default Oil changes... why so often?

I read few posts in oil consumption and engine oil analysis thread and I'm noticing that you guys change your oil so often on HR engines!

I wonder why do you guys do your oil change so early... around 1,500 miles and then every 2,000 - 2,500 miles? I did my first oil change on 06 Acura TL at 2,500 and then every 4,500-5,000 with Mobil 1 synthetic.

I have 300 miles so far on my 08 and I am not sure when I should change the oil and if I should use Mobil 1 5w30 Synthetic or some other oil. Please advise

I heard that the first oil change should not be done with synthetic. After that, all synthetic only.

I bought this one at Costco with a coupon... $22 for 6 quarts.

What non-synthetic oil should I use for my first oil change and then from then on should I use Mobil 1 0w40?

I just picked mine up(07) and the dealer specifically told me not to change the oil until 3,750.

I dont really do it too often. I just rag out my car a lot and for me to drive over 3000 miles takes a good awhile and I rather change it every 3months just to make sure the oil is clean.
My theory is with a full synthetic oil change it runs about $50-$60. Why not? If my daily drive guzzles more then $150/week on gas why not spend a 1/3 of that every 3 months for an oil change.

I want to know what is the difference between:

1. doing non-synthetic and synthetic on first oil change
2. difference between mobil 1 0w40 and 5w30
3. using certain brand of synthetic over other brand (ex. amsoil vs. mobil 1 vs. royal purple). Are there any long term benefits of using one over other one?

Thanks

Not to be rude, but you should read 'all' posts, and not just a 'few'. This would explain why people like to do their first oil change early.

As for intervals, I put a little over 8,000 miles before my last change, and there are plenty other people that are around the same interval as I am.

Mobil1 0w30 is also worth buying (so I hear, I haven't personally done a UOA for the 0w30 yet).

Come on man, stop being so lazy and so some of your own research. All these questions have been answered many times.

FWIW, since I bought my 03, I have followed the owners manual. I believe that the Nissan engineers have a reason for the recommended maintenance and that they are being conservative to avoid product/customer problems.

Castrol GTX is the best non synthetic period.
Gets tougher to determine best once you switch to synthetic, hence why I run GTX in all my cars. Cheap and change it every 3K. Done.

Thanks for reminding me!

I have to change my oil. Last time I changed it at 5,500 miles with Castrol Syntec 5w-30 and M1 filter. I think I'm at 9,500 miles right now. My car is running like a champ.

Actually, synth' oil can be used from day 1 on ANY engine. Some auto makers
even have it factory installed! There's a myth about synth' oil--i.e. that it's
"bad" for a new motor. Not so. You can enjoy its protection from early on in
your cars' engines! Relax, dudes! Go with the best from the beginning!!!
Also, as long as it has the "SL" or "SM" rating from the SAE, THEY'RE ALL ABOUT THE
SAME IN QUALITY, guys. Brands are a matter of personal preferences.

Amsoil here--pricey, but w/a their preferred customer program, I get up to 20% off as long I'm spending 100 per year. Usually get the 12 pk...$90+ for $68+.

I'm not an oil expert but I've run Amsoil in my turbos and N/As almost exclusively w/no problems.
