I was hoping Jeremy would jump in on this...I cant wait for the outcome on this project.

Hopefully with his hard work it, will prove to be an option for the HR owners.

still working on a few small issues that we knew we would have. there is a reason that there arent tons of engine management systems out so far.

hopefully it will be on the dyno and tuned by friday!!!

hey sandy!! it took me a minute to figure out who you were hope all is well for ya.

I mean, honestly, I want a good outside tuning option (Fcon pro or better) if I'm going FI because I want boost adjustment, multiple maps, datalogging, etc. and on an ECU intended to use a MAP. If I'm tuning NA I'll grab an e-manage and V-manage and just stay cheap and easy.
You can do all that with a reprogrammed honda ECU (much cheaper than a standalone), I don't see why we have to surrender our ECU's to have those capabilities. Infact you can have a 2step rev-limiter, boost cut... e.t.c and more features than what a standalone can offer, without having to hack up your factory spaghetti. with software that is available for other ECU's out there. There is no reason (aside from a demand argument), but even then... alot of people with FI Z's would have no real reason to use a reflashing programming/tool to retune their cars (it would be alot more cost effective). I loved playing with uberdata on my old Honda/s. Fcon's are expensive and from what I've read/heard the software is not very user friendly (not sure if it is even available for the general public... aside from authorized dealers).

The problem is, some ECU's are intended to run in open loop some in closed loop. If the car is intended to be running in open loop and a tuner wants it to run in closed, it can require reqriting the entire "operating system" if you will. With a standalone one operating system works for every car, with a reflash setup you'd have to have volume to demand it, and it simply isn't present. I wouldn't spend $2,000 for a reflash kit that let me tune my stock ECU but still didn't recognize MAP inputs.....it would cost too much in additional tuning. The other methods are just more cost effective for lower production level cars.

Accept it and move on, economy of scale is all it is.

Z's are on a can-bus system, something none of the other cars you listed are, and the primary reason for the significant costs associated with things. The software to flash Z ecu's has been out since 2003 - for about $8500 (then...might be more now), you can get your own copy if you want.

F Con is not user tunable...only the prodealer can tune it

Yea any updates PF? Hopefully they finish soon and the results are awesome. Im in the market for a performance car right now after i got rid of my 06 STI last year which has sucked driving a normal car for over a year. So if this kit and numbers are awesome and the HR motor can take some serious power on the stock block then I will be picking up a 08 Z with this kit other than that Im going for a TT Supra.

Whoa guys chill out!! The car will be done shortly, as Jeremy stated there is some things that need to be worked out with the engine management. Be patient and the further information will be released soon.
