Default Ticking!

I have a strange ticking noise under hard acceleration, once I let off the ticking will slowly go away. Sounds like its right above my feet behind the dash. Cant seem to figure out what it is!! Car info - 08 Base, Manual with 4,500 miles. Only mod is a bassani exhaust. You guys have ideas or experienced this before?

Thanks for any input. I searched but I didnt find anything

i can't hear the sound so i can't really say, but its possible that something isn't aligned quite right with the exhaust and it could be hitting something. it may not sound like its coming from the exhaust from where you're sitting, but sounds can jump around quite a bit in the car. i'd jack up the car and check all the connections on the exhaust and check for anything around the exhaust that it may possibly come into contact with

just my 2 cents, hope it helps

Nope I have it too... '08 Enth, completely stock. I have it only on certain days though.... it doesn't happen everyday all the time. But it's annoying as hell though.

Exhaust clearance is all good, no problem there.

Zacreth - Same here, not an everyday occurrence. I hate when crap like this happens! You end up taking it to the dealer and all is well, while you end up looking like a moron.

Yep..only the best...
It's not from the engine...something under the dash
I took it to the dealers and they said they heard it once but never again after that. I just heard it yesterday while driving down the road and it was loud.

I heard a tick once in a while on the top of the center of my dashboard. It shoulds like a small rock hitting the windshield.

Okay after driving me nuts a little more I tried to investigate where it's coming from. So on a nice hot day here in AZ, I got my fat azz in foot area in the driver's side and pressed the gas to rev it up so that I can hear it.

It doesn't happen on the time but when it does it is coming from the center console, low behind maybe the radio and a/c controls. But still haven't found it extactly.

My question is simple.... why the hell doesn't it do it all the time???

I think it's the sound that I hear on my car. I wonder what it is. does it sound like an individual click? that occurs once in a while, it happens to me on the freeway usually.

anyone ever figure out what this was? I've got a sound on mine like this, anything above 2500 RPM. The higher the RPM, the faster the sound. Best way to describe it is, it sounds like the wheel on the TV show, "Wheel Of Fortune." Anything under 2500 RPM and it stops. I've got an 08 Z 6MT w/ 4900 miles. Just started this yesterday

Lifters might be shot, I just had my whole engine replaced because of it. Mine however is an 04.

the sound is inside the car, not outside, sounds like it's just right under the dash

that's been a noise some people get. try putting your hand on the dashboard on different places next time you're hearing the sound, and apply pressure to see if it stops. If it does you have the same problem me and a few others have. Just hit the dash board with your hand it should go away for a while.

damn I tried that. It's annoying as f**k. I've got an appointment with the dealership at 8:30 tomorrow morning, so they're gonna see if they can figure it out. This will be my first time dealing with the service department at this dealership and so far they seem pretty cool. If they find it i'll post up what it was. In the mean time if anyone else stumbles across this thread and knows, please by all means speak up!

Same problem here but I only hear it when I'm in third and once in fifth and I think it's from the shifter !?

I hear it through all 6 gears, and even when I rev while sitting still in neutral. I dont think it has anything to do with the shifter, at least mine doesn't. I've got an appointment with the dealership monday morning, because I wasn't able to make it in today. If they find anything i'll be sure to post it up. The sound on mine seems to be coming from inside the dash right around/behind the gauges
