Sam told me 15whp about but everytime i talked to him about it he seemed very unsure about this product. It sounded like realistically it woudn't gain more than 10 and that 15 was just a number for marketing. And im not kidding about this, he alwasy tired to talk me outta cams and wanted me to go for the turbo. I even told him i don't want to go FI and he still told me to pass on the cams. He said he doesn't want to sell me something that im going to be disappointed with in teh end becaseu of the power per whp. WIth the lack of testing and I think Rogue is the only guy with these cams(prototyped on his car) this product is not worth it until there is reasearch done by either GTM or a consumer. I woudln't be surprised if test pipes gain as much power as these cams.

gotta find out...

Nissan did some pretty good things with the HR...

It took 2-3 yrs to find real potential from the DE... and lots of trial & error from those that cared.

You can sit back and ask... or go for it. Neither is wrong

That's what i was about to reply to you. I think turbo overall is the bang for the money. We know that the HR has proven to have a pretty stout internal by pushing over 500whp on Rogue's car and the other kid that injected performance did his car.

You sound encouraging, but i will have to pass this mod. I rather keep the $3k and go with FI.

The problem w/ cams is that w/ out adjustable valve train like the G37, or even something as simple as that old VTEC thing, you are going to make a compromise. Yes the adjustable cam timing helps to a degree, but it won't fix the idle from running a massive cam profile. In other words, i'm sure GTM, BC, or whoever can make an aggressive cam for the HR, but how many are willing to live w/ the effects of this on a daily basis? The other part of this equation is if you do go w/ a big cam, w/ lots of duration, you will have some overlap which will actually lower the dynamic compression ratio.... in other words to get the most out of the new cams, you should plan on some pistons as well.

The HR does have VVT on both intake and exhaust, but you'd need something that allows you to tune for the cam angles, so you can have your smooth idle, and more power. Rednezz Dyno on his DE build is proof.

Go to your dealer, make friends with a tech, and pass him $300 and a few beers to install your cams. FI or Turbo, cams should not be overlooked.

I thought only the VQ37VHR and VR38DETT has variable valves.

cams are the bottleneck any times you modify intake and exhaust... in the same way intake and exhaust runners are.
aren't cheap to install and tune as is not cheap to port the heads....

but this is also the "reliable" way for HP.

Variable valve timing yes they do have (intake and exhaust on the HR), variable lift, they do not. only the 37VHR has the variable lift ability. which is what i said to begin w/.
