POLL Should I pay someone to Install my Exhaust & HFC's or do it myself?
I have been doing a lot of research about the problems with the Bolts and O2 Sensors. So I am not sure if it would be worth it to buy some ramps and struggle with the install myself, or if I should just get some place like Meineke to do it. I will need to spend around $60 on ramps anyway and some PD Blaster and WD40.
I bought the Fast Intentions Intimidator and the 300 Cell HFC's. The instructions for the Exhaust require some cutting and removing of parts (Evap Canister). If I take it somewhere, would they have a problem with cutting parts and such?
I do want the experience of doing it myself. But don't want to have to struggle with a couple of bolts and potentially strip the O2 Sensor without getting anywhere.

it's not as hard as you think, but the top bolts on the cats are a bitc*. it seems most have broke them. but you don't have to cut the canister you just take the protector part of it off. i would not take it to meinike as they will charge you on arm and a leg. just get a set of jack stands for 30 bucks, a lot or a few very long extensions, and a breaker bar and you are golden.

Well. I bought some Rhino Ramps today. Along with some High Temp Silicone, WD40 and PB Blaster. Now I'm thinkin about putting just the Exhaust in tonight, and the HFC's in on Friday afternoon. The darkness and cold may change my mind.
Thanks for the advice. Oh and the ramps had to sit up front with me. Not enough room in the back.

+1. it's easy. you just need to have flexible extentions. it only took me an hour to install HFC. oh and don't forget to spray liquid wrench and let it soak before you start. use the $$ you saved to buy yourself a nice tool set.
As I'm sure everyone has said, the catback is cake. The HFC's are not.
Unless you are able to get some serious leverage on the bolts you're going to have a hard time. Laying on your back in your garage is going to make it much harder. Plus if you dont have the right tools you will have a hard time getting the righ angle on the bolts.
Think about the worse case scenario. You break a bolt taking off the HFC's or cant get one loosened. What would you do then? I'd try it myself first but if you think you cant do it half way through, you should probably pay the cash.
I tried the HFC's and couldn't break a single bolt. I'll end up taking it somewhere.

IT'S NOT EASY!!!! lol The cats are a PAIN in the ***. You are going to want to have a big *** breaker bar and a bunch of extentions and stuff. Use plenty of pb blaster/liquid wrench. You will probably want spare gaskets.
**Use anti-seize on the bolts when you put it back together. If you ever work on your exhaust again you will be glad.
