My VQ35HR is with UPREV for a week
Still playing the e-mail games with DynoJet. They are saying there is no issue with Vista, yet I'm getting different numbers with the same file in XP and Vista. If this doesn't resolve soon, I'm just going to printscreen from the dyno computer.
LOL at all the people "my car made XXX on the dyno" "normally such and such car makes XXX on the dyno"
Seriously guys, dynos do not work that way. Every dyno manufacturer gets results in different ways. Every time you strap your car down to a dyno you will get different numbers. Run your car 20 times back to back and all 20 lines will be different.
Dynos are a tool that lets you see where two things meet. RPM vs. HP. Time vs. Torque etc. Thats what they tell you. Rambling back and forth about your number vs. someone elses number is not what a dyno does.
Not to mention you're all talking about chassis dynos, not motor dynos. Everyones drivetrain has different losses. Everyones tire choice has different rolling characteristics which leads to even more skewed numbers. Some people have different strapping methods that may load the drive axle more or less which affects the numbers.
This is not rocket science, this is just very rudimentary dynamic calculations for a simple machine. Stop acting like it's scientific fact.
What you can see on a dyno is a comparison of situations. Hopefully your variables between two runs are slight, so that the information is as accurate as possible. Pull the car off the dyno and all that goes right out the window. The exact same stock vehicle that makes roughly 300 crank horsepower, run on 4 different manufacturers dynos on the same day will read a variance of 50hp between all those dynos. So just stop the nonsense already guys.
Our product allows control over the ECU so that you can adjust for all the variables possible. The closer the tune is, the more efficient the motor will run, which should in theory smooth out the dyno chart, and allow for more power to be created. There are distinct differences in the tuning provided by companies such as TS, Cobb, BullyDog, Uprev, etc. We have the most knowledge when it comes to the Nissan ECU, and we have the most control. Which is why we offer forced induction support on the stock ECU. We offer more accurate controls. We have tuners all over the place that can do dyno tuning with our product. If we weren't so far ahead then we wouldn't manage to remain in business with the economy the way it is. Ask our customers about how good our product is, they will tell you. They are not paid actors.

awesome post.
only problem i have with uprev is that all your tech at the dealer has to do is flick the cruise control and push cancel, and there goes your powertrain warranty. thats why i'm kind of leaning towards cobb because without the accessport the dealer can't find anything out.

Laugh. And you REALLY think the dealer is going to know how to do that or what it is? They will never know.

As far as voiding your powertrain warranty, that is dealer and tech discretion. We even have a Nissan dealership that is a Pro Tuner and they certain won't void your warranty when using our product. Harbor Nissan in FL uses our product and chose it because they can correct actual issues that show up when installing third party hardware for customers. They can return a car to a safe AFR if it is running lean, so that you have less warranty issues.

The dealer isn't going to click your cruise buttons to find our software. They'll plug in their ConsultIII laptop and see it, the same way they'd see the Cobb Accessport or technosquare or bullydog or any other tuning that changes the code on the ECU. We change code, and so does the Accessport.

interesting information about the ConsultIII. so then why does cobb advertise their product as if its not noticeable by the dealer? and are you sure the ConsultIII will tell them if the car has been flashed? i'm almost sure my dealer will refuse work on my car if they noticed that its flashed. and btw, i drive a g35 not a 350z, but i have the same engine so i snoop around in this forum too lol...
i guess were going to have to wait for Mr. uprev to give us an explanation..
However, the same is true for TS, Cobb, etc. If the dealership plugs in and flashes your ECU with an emissions update then your license identifier that all these systems use will be gone and there is no way for any of us to verify that your ECU had a license on it.
One major difference is that we specifically try and use the newest ROM file so that the dealerships don't try and "update" the ROM. We also use the correct ROM for your vehicle, which is why we ask what your ECU part number is, and no one else does.

Problem there is if you have a car that won't run with the stock ROM like forced induction, or with a fair number of mods, those cars won't have a warranty anyway.
Also this is all dealer discretion, so find out from your dealership service writer ahead of time what they consider to be a warranty voiding modification. Grubbs Infiniti in Texas will not void your warranty, neither will Harbor Nissan in Florida, nor Town North Nissan here in Austin if you're using Osiris. They are all familiar with our product and have serviced dozens of our customers.
To be not noticeable by the dealership, they mean you have to flash it back to stock before you take it in to the dealership.

and in terms of them updating the ROM or reflashing or watever, i could just tell them to let me know EXACTLY what theyre doing to my car before they do it, that way i can tell them not to update it. why would they ever need to update the ECU anyway? that seems pointless, i don't think i've ever heard of an ECU update or ROM update to an engine..
ah i see. well my dealer, Ramsey Infiniti in Northern New Jersey, seems like they know nothing about aftermarket parts for these cars. My service writer told me its very rare that they get a modded car in for service. I also sometimes go to Infiniti of Englewood in Northern New Jersey. i guess if i just switch to stock map via the cruise control, then i should be fine, cuz then they would see the stock parameters on the ECU.

You're ok if you know your service writer and just tell them not to reset your ECU or if they need to do anything with the car they need to let you know explicitly before hand.
Nope, the dealership if they open ConsultIII and look at the ECU they will see it's not to spec. The big deal there is that if they connect and they flash the vehicle that they will wipe out your license.

so basically if this happens, then we're screwed? can't you check your (or the dealers) sales records to see who you sold it to and if the ecu part numbers match?
Ok just finished reading this whole thread!!
I want to get this right
***note I use the words map and file interchangeably ***
STEP 1:
Buy Osiris Uprev for 700$. This comes with the cable "called Osiris" and it comes with Cipher, a data logging software package that you install on your lap-top. Then hook up you computer and the cable with your ECU, run the program(Cipher), then do a couple of runs in your car to get the proper technical information from your car. Save the files or whatever then email this file to UPREV along with a list of your modifications and any other reflash requests. They review your numbers and mods, and makes ALL the necessary technical changes to your "FILE" to get the car at its best (best would mean smoothest power curve distributing power evenly throughout. AND best in the sense of efficiency and horse power gain!!!! Then Uprev Emails you back your new file or FILES with your requests. One request could be a maximum efficiency "file"(for long trips) or a valet "file" (allowing for only LITTLE POWER so valet doesn't break your car), or a maximum power band gain "file" (probably the most desired "file" to add to your ECU).
Then you take these new files from your email account and connect your computer to the "Osiris" cable and then to your ECU.
Then transfer these "files" or maps or whatever you want to call them to your new ECU. AND BAM you are set with a few maps to select from
Now here is where I have some questions:
QUESTION1: If you have a base model Z like mine we have no cruise control and I beleive no way to select the different "files" or "maps" From what I gather we can only have one map at any time. Soooo how can I get the valet map or effeciency map on my 350z, if I am curently running the maximum power band map. Do I have to bust out my lap-top before I give the car to the valet guy, and install the custom map for valet since I DO NOT have cruise control (aka a way to change between the maps or files UPREV sent to my email account)
QUESTION2: I do not want my warranty voided for my 06 Z if I have this reflash. You said "Even if you go back to a stock ECU setting (aka a stock replicating map for the ECU) the dealer WILL be able to tell that the ECU has been messed with and could void the warranty. So my question is, is there any way to make sure AFTER INSTALLING THESE ECU REFLASHES, even if you go back to a stock map, that the dealer could not tell anything was done to the ECU, even if they go to install those emissions updates or whatever they do to your ECU when you bring it in for a service appointment?????
Sorry for the long post. I want everyone to understand everything that goes along with this reflash from UPREV process

And the 400$ version, is .. Just send the ECU by mail and get 5 permanent map on your ECU. The only way to get another map or get your current maps changed is to either send it in again for another 400$? or buy the Osiris for 700$?, or pay $50 a map? (for base models with no cruise control you would only get one map for 400$?) after already dropping 400$ for the first 5 maps. Which will give you only 5 interchangeable maps. After 5 it is 50$ a piece?
