I'm looking to put one in on my 07. What kind of SS did you have? What did you not like about it? As far as brands go the B&M SS is the most available.

How much shorter do you need? Have you driven a stick in a car besides the Z? A short shifter in anything else gets it back to the throw length on our cars. Haha.

I don't remember what brand name, but it did belong to a friend who didn't like it. I think the brand name started with an "R" if that sounds right. It's a 2 piece design. I know people would vote against the 2 piece designs, but mine was free. My only complaint about it is that my shift **** twist around some. Other then that I like the feel, and it was free. Hope that helps.

i like how it the shifter has a nice stiff feel, i used to have a gti vr6 and a honda crx, and those were real loose feeling, but geez sometimes when im shifting i feel like im driving a ford ranger that's stick, it bugs me sometimes so i was really considering it plus its not that expensive from what ive heard

I don't think the shifting is any stiffer then stock with a short shifter. I do believe that shifting is more direct, and slightly smoother then stock. The stock shifter felt good way better then my previous car (99 GSX). I don't feel I gained much over the stock shifter other then feel and throw. The only thing I want to try maybe is some solid shifter bushings. I had them on my GSX and like them allot. I don't think the Z needs them, but if they were available I'd give them a try.

I love my shifts firm and solid.

Stop with the short shifter nonsense. Having been a member for a year you should be familiar with the "Mods that I regret" thread.
