would it just be easier to bolt up an 009 trany from an 06 and then use the older style clutch also?

I'm not entirely sure it would even fit. I'm not sure it wouldn't, but the crank angle sensor is moved on the HR, and there are some things that don't seem 100% the same.

I could make the DE pivot linkage work if I was really that concerned. I do however think that I will look into LSx parts for size comparison, we might be able to source a slave from somewhere else with a small modification to the cover they dremel in that video.

Mine has only stuck to the floor once and this was after I had the slave cylinder replaced. So basically this should only concern people who are considering going F/I?

Default I agree with peak350 aka clutch killer

There must be a way to find a better slave that will work. I think I read somewhere that the Mazda speed three had the same problem, may they came up with a fix. I'll go trolling through some Mazada forums and see if I cant get some info.

Most newer FWD cars are going to a concentric slave cylinder.

I think the issue in my car is the 1200kg pressure plate that the slave has to overcome.

But my thoughts are this - heat is bad for rubber seals in hydraulics, boiling fluid allows the seals to superheat. Flushing the fluid for DOT6 and changing it regularly (once every 6-12 months) will likely reduce instance of failure by helping to protect the seals from pocket boiling fluid.

Beyond that there likely isn't much we can do, unless someone comes up with a way to get the heat off the slave, reduce the pressure of the fluid (potentially just make a larger bore), or replace the rubber seals with a better material, we are stuck.

Edit - VQ35DE = 03-06 350z's,
VQ35HR = 07-08 350z's, similar for G35's

I really don't see what the big deal is... it seems like a really simple install.

You mean pulling the transmission to replace a failed hydraulic cylinder every 10k miles seems ok to you?

The conversion looks east if you have the bracket for the slave cylinder to bolt onto.

since i have yet to pull my tranny from my 08, i don't know what the cranks sensor looks like. but if it mounts the same as the 03-06 then using the 06 009 tranny might be possible. you could just splice wires and run them around to the sensor mounting point. but since i have yet to pull the tranny i can't speak of the experience with it yet.

$350000 is a lot of money for a clutch.

Best I can do is show the location. I'm not thinking it would work, even if its the same sensor, its in a different spot so the DME would go ape ****, its not just a rev counter, its a crank angle sensor that gives a reading from the flywheel. You'd have to rotate your flywheel on the crank to make the DME happy I'd think.

I have 23k miles on my car and never had it replaced due to any failures.... in regards to the bracket for the slave cylinder , from my understanding it should be supplied with the kit.

I have 23k on my car, a JWT clutch and flywheel, and have replaced it due to failure, exactly 10k after the recall was done (9k after my clutch/flywheel install).

I was very hard on the car during the new slaves first 1k, once I broke my factory flywheel, I backed off a bit.

I was meaning to do the conversion without the kit, looks manageable if you can get that little bracket.
