its only for some engines. Old American V8's had a Harmonic Ba lancer as a crank pulley, It basically absorbs the engine's Harmonic Resonance. by taking some of the load. same thing with the older Inline 6 Engines such as the Nissan RB and Toyota J series. the Crank Pulley also served as a Harmonic Balancer. it would take load from the bearings that's the understanding / theory behind the Harmonic Blancer.

Moving on to Modern engines. or the Smaller V6. We have been removing them from the VG30's and SR20's for years now. taking off heavy 17ish lb crank pulleys and installing light weight 3lb aluminum Under drive pulleys, without them causing any engines to fail. same thing with SR's the VQ already comes with a very light pulley so a 3lb savings on the pulley wont really show much effect and is not worth the time and effort IMO. I would put that money towards an Osiris tune.

so the harmonic balance of the crank will be thrown off... interesting.

y didnt this happen to my rev up tho? its techically the same motor (almost).

lol i think i explained it wrong or you miss understood. Basically what i mean to say is that putting a light weight pulley on a newer nissan V6 engine won't throw the harmonics of the engine off. it wont even matter, the crankshaft is counter balanced from factory, and everything is very carefully machined and assembled. at the same time, the light weight pulley is more of a dress up item. you won't feel much / any difference from it.

that I have no experience with the VQHR, but from what other threads have said and show, there isn't any gains, I mean even DE's don't have any gains, the HR pulley is even lighter so I doubt we will get any gains from it check this thread out

Dear god can I have your English teachers name address so I can smack them?

Practically impossible to understand, at first I thought it was autocorrect but not one period or full sentence in that whole paragraph.

I installed the Z1 lightweight and did the idler removal in 2-3 hours, with breaks. Gained 7 less pounds in the front of my car, lol. Do I regret it? No....

I've had Unorthodox crank pulley for about 10K miles now. Revs noticeably faster. I'm pretty sure no power gains. Would do again.
