I highly doubt that people go about doing research on mods before doing the research on a car they want to drive first.

Buddy boy, get the ride, hit the search button and happy modding.

Where did you get reasoning I was suggesting that he'd go ahead and put anything that isn't reliable or respectable, on his ride? I simply stated that the reasoning behind getting a car solely for modding, more specifically a DD, isn't the first thing that a reasonable person should do before buying a car. Generally people research a car for millage, condition, and value. Not what "cool" mods you can do to a car that isn't even on your drive way. You didn't even give the guy a chance, you straight up told him not to get the car, and assumed he had no knowledge of what he was doing.

Also, lets not talking about cheap mods. We all remember your "spray painting your own car" thread and all your classic DIY's.

+1...well put and you beat me to it.

OP...do yourself a favor, do some search, look at the "100 most frequently asked questions thread", and don't take anything on this site personal!! Good luck.

Also, where in Illinois? Join chicagoZ...great local stuff.

^ it was a simple question that i posted about spray painting a car, you prob. dont recall, but i think it was sport compact car or turbo mag, or something like that, that spray painted a wrx flat black, and did a good job, also was cheap, took a long time, so i was wondering the reality of spray painting a car like they did...and that wrx was just as expensive as our Zs if not more...(i think it was an STI)...so stop trying to poke at me with questions i have asked, i havnt done that, and would not waste my time spray painting my car cuz for one i think its a waste of time, and two, id **** it up...and three...i dont think the quality would be very good...but of course i was just curious...but your right, everytime someone asks a question on here, that means they are gonna automatically do it right? ...your a tool, anyway, back to the original subject, when it comes to a car im going to mod, i always look into mods before i but the car because i want to know how much money i will be spending VS another car....so can you step down from that pedestal cuz your not that tight

I don't think I need words to describe this.

Nope. Sorry. But I can say that the total difference is very noticable. The car is much more eager to spin the tires. On good clean pavement, from a soft rolling start in first gear so you keep traction, the tires really break loose around 5000, and the car goes sideways when you hit second, much better than it was. I plan to hit the track soon. On another note, my city gas mileage went up about 1 mpg, and the highway went down 1-2 mpg.

Another poorly calibrated butt dyno. All you did was continue your trend of making your car dangerously lean. Headers are a complete, utter waste of money on a bolt-on car.

as far as i know, only A.H got stillen headers and did a before and after dyno. and he gained about 10whp through out the whole powerband.

i didn't read the whole thread, but if anyone said that you don't get any gains with headers, they're wrong...

pulley on the other hand, is useless

Those results are not common.

btw, i'm talking about the hr

and A.H did have just about every other bolt on available for the HR, so if its an otherwise stock z, you prolly won't gain 10 whp...

without the other supporting mods, the headers would have added jack for HP.

stillen is obviously lying, much like how companies say their intake adds 20HP when it doesn't add anything.

and, DO NOT buy borla headers, they are the worst headers you can buy.

Listen to the masses on here. I have every supporting mod on my car and still don't think it is worth my time or money until I am proven otherwise by independent dyno's. Feel free to spend 1k+ for 2-3hp at MOST, but that doesn't meet my money/performance ratio.

Considering only a couple people on the forum have gotten headers for the HR and only 1 posted his before and after, how would you know whats common? 10whp on an NA car thru the range is pretty nice.

They don't make power on DE's and the HR has more efficient exhaust manifolds from the factory. I'd like to check out the post of before and after though......gotta link?

I personally have never seen any gains remotely near 10whp from just bolting on aftermarket headers.
