They seem really nice until you find out labor is going to be between 1400-1800...

even with the install costs, it's far less than building a full motor like a DE/Revup owner has to

Not from what I know, and GTM doesn't either, they just think it'll gain 10-15whp(GTM).

Not a bad price at all. What does the auto tranny have to do with the camshaft choice? Labor cost is fixed when you DIY!

Edit: Seems that these cams were made with turbo in mind. I would've liked to see what an HR like A.H's could do with a niec set of cams.

If I knew how to DIY and save 1700 bucks then I would do it in a heartbeat. But at 2700-3000 installed for a maybe 10whp is just not worth it imo. Now if you want to fly on down Socal and do the install for me then maybe we can work something out

tomei has some agressive grinds (280's and 272's, with lift as high as 11.3 mm), i think they'll provide more than a 10-15 whp gain.

what makes you say that? or are you talking about the GTM cams?

the Tomei cams could easily be used on an NA or FI engine, which is why they sell the sets in pairs, allowing the user to choose the grind to best suit the engine.

The Pro Cams would be the ones to use for maximum NA output.

Let me get this straight. Neither manufacturer of the Aftermarket Cams has installed them in a car and tested the gained power?

http://translate.google.com/translat...istory_state0=

these are on a DE - gains on an HR would be even greater I suspect due to the higher rev limiter, and ability to map intake and exhaust cam timing.

Tomei doesn't need to provide inflated #'s, as it doesn't serve any long standing purpose. This is not a fly by night operation run by a couple of kids, or a firm that is interested in being everything to everyone. What they are is at their core, is a small, high end, performance oriented machine shop with a very long reputation (founded in the late 60's). With respect to the Z, many of the top Z's worldwide have used their services for various aspects of their build, including several of the cars that run in Super Taikyu.
