Question ? how heavy the HR Z should be ?

Well this past wed. i went to the drag strip and they had a weigh scale. So i role my car on top of it with me and my friend in the car. I look at the display and i was shocked! 4060lb! So me and him got out of the car and it went down to 3700's ish area. I had 3/4 tank of gas, 2 10"jl w6 subs with custom box. 1 6 channel jl amp and 1 jl 500/1 amp. I was wondering how when they said 3300ish area for the z did they weigh it with gas or not?

yes i did do a search but it was hard thinking of what to type? so i just typed weight and it gave me a pull down of what it thought i was looking for. well the couple i clicked on were post from 2002 area so that didnt really help

Curb Weight: 3339 lbs. Gross Weight: 3919 lbs. hmm not fully answering my question. did they do the weight with gas or not and also i was thinking the scale would be off because last time i was there the car weighted in at 3380/with out me in it and 1/4 tank of gas.

Then do the math. Without you and 1/4th tank of gas is pretty close to 3339lbs... so add in approximately 1/4th tank of gas, add in your subs... mods not really much for weight reduction... and you're at 3380lbs.

They weigh them with essentially no gas in the tank, hence curb weight.

so your saying with a full tank of gas the car is around3 to 400 pounds heavier than what is listed hence the curb weight?

Actually it should be closer to about 110 pounds heavier, assuming a gallon of gas weighs 6.216 pounds per gallon.

Gross is considered to be an 'average' weight... aka including a passenger and potentially some 'luggage'.

Assume a full tank of gas is 120lbs. Assume your passenger is 180lbs. assume you have 'cargo'... easy 325lbs, and there you have gross weight.

THe correct term is “curb weight.” It has been an ongoing discussion for 7 years.

Curb weight is measured with all fluids topped off, including gasoline. No passengers and no cargo.

How did your trap speed compare this time to last time when it was "400 pounds lighter"? Stereo equipment can get rather heavy. Those scales are typically calibrated, so that shouldn't be a problem. Did you change wheels? Rotors/brakes? Any body work?

the audio was in the car last time. I took at the spare out about 2 weeks ago. and during spring break time i got a y-pipe and injen intakes. Theses are the only 2 pieces that have been put on the car and the spare taken out. I was just averaging about 101 and getting a rather consistent time of 14 flat and fastest was a 13.9 @ 98mph. Fyi tracked was horribly prepped that night.

what weight?? and that because, like i said, the track was horribly prepped. I would spin going into second. Fyi i never spin at that track ever.

also back when i just had test pipes and cat back with the oem 07 rims i did a 13.8 at 104 with spare tire to.
