Default Problem with Thermostat?

So I am having some issues. Yesterday I had the heater going in my car but it just wouldn't heat up. When I checked my temp gauge is was way up close to the H. Is the thermostat not working properly? Coolant levels are fine and the engine doesn't seem to be over heating. I did a search but couldn't find anyone with the same symptoms. Thanks!

Have you opened up the cooling system lately? Its unlikely to be the thermostat, the OE unit RARELY fails. More than likely its air still trapped in the system, since the Heater Core is the high point in the system.

Sounds like a failed water pump or air in the system as mentioned. Even if the t-stat is stuck closed the bypass will still pump water through the heater.

Yeah, I think it was air. Seems to be okay now. I guess when I drained the system last I did a half assed job.
