Default Hr spark plugs

Hi guys!

How many of you guys use colder plugs than oem? I searched but only thing that pops up is 370z oem plugs. 1 step colder than 350hr's right? Is there another option for this?

My zed is supercharged, that's why I'm intrested

Thanks

Yep I noticed it after surfing in courtesyparts. Read in NOS forums that they use 370z plugs.. GTM offers one step colder plugs but yes they don't have part/type number for plugs. and they're 27,79 piece

I think the 370 plugs ARE 1 step colder than oem HR plugs.. that's what I have in mine and when I researched everything I read said they were colder, and they are not the same part number.

VHR plugs are 1 step colder than HR plugs, DE plugs are not even close to HR or VHR plugs, totally different plug and will not interchange. HR/VHR plugs are much smaller in diameter and also much longer.

We have 1 step colder for the HR here (370z Plugs) http://www.zspeedperformance.com/Den...FXE24HR114.htm

I bought regular (non-platinum/Iridium) NGK's for my HR, one step colder IIRC. I had to buy a box of ten but it was about $60 for all of them.

From my nitrous use with the OEM plugs, they had been overheated to the point of losing the inserts on almost all of them. I would not advise using anything other than a standard copper plug with nitrous.

Good info. I wanted to ask you if you think that going with 1 step colder plugs for my Stillen SC (8 lbs. boost max) HR would make any significant difference in the positive column for performance? I know that many go with the colder plugs once they go FI.

It can't hurt, Less detonation and a safer cylinder temp is always a good idea. It may help on power also as you won't be retarding timing if it should detonate with a hotter plug.

OK I've searched forum threads, company sites and want to order a 1 step colder iridium long life set of plugs for my '07 SC'd HR. My manual shows the oem plug as FXE22HR11 (gap is .043). These are Denso plugs designed for approx. 100K miles.

The ZSpeed guy on this thread gave some good info. about the 1 step colder plugs and some guys have different opinions on all of this; I want to get it right and may stay OEM at a step colder. CZP sells them "Denso Iridium" for the HR (FXE22HR11/EW61C); that's for stock and I'd go colder, these go for $96+ per set, does that sound about right? Z speed has them also, similar price.

HKS has a "super fire" #8 heat range plug for the HR at about $26 per.

Before I call one of these outfits and place an order I just wanted to run this past some of you that have done this, gone colder for your boosted cars and maybe get some good info./advice before I get a set ordered as this can be very important. Thanks to all and the Zspeed guy is welcome to input his thoughts, etc.

Well after talking things over with Coz at czp, I just ordered the HKS (made by NGK) "super fire" spark plugs, heat range 8 (1 step cooler than stock Denso). He said that these are popular with boosted cars and are a fine plug; at $26 per they better be! I remember changing out my '77 280Z plugs; cap, rotor, total of about $15.

It's been a quite long time but just ordered oem 370Z plugs. Are they bolt-on or should they be gapped?

My 350Z ('07 hr) plugs, including the new HKS ones I recently installed say "don't gap" them; electrode is tiny compared to regular plugs and can be damaged. These plugs are supposedly good for 100K miles however.

Good luck with this. As you already know the HR/VHR plugs are quite unique in their design; I had never seen plugs like the HR once I finally saw one. Yeah, the HKS are expensive; but even the oem plugs are about $16 or so per. I figured that since it was going to cost some $ anyway plus Coz at CZP recommended the HKS for FI cars I went that route, they do look like OEM as far as I could tell but the call them "super fire" and I thought "maybe" a better spark haha! *they do come in red HKS boxes whether that means anything or not ($26 or so per). You may want to call Coz and talk to him about this and what heat range may be best for you.
