VQ35HR vs 370z Nismo
Hey folks. Just thought you might like to know I got to test a 370z Nismo for a week for Ebay motors blog review. I did a write-up and a photo shoot.
Not sure if I can link to it from here. I took the Nismo to Zcar garage in San Jose and had them do a baseline dyno and overlay the Nismo graph with the graph from my 2007 350z.
Ninja Edit: BTW, the Nismo 370z weighs as much as my 350z Grand Touring. I thought the 370z was supposed to be lighter....

Thanks. Didn't want to get into detail in the article, but check my sig here: just bolt-ons and tune. Injen Cold Air intakes, Berk HFC's, Bassani Exhaust, Osiris Uprev dyno tune.
Thank you for the article RedlineHR
...its a nice to see this type of posting rather than the usual junk. Just a side question. How do you like ZCar? I live up by SF in the peninsula and will be needing a trusted shop for my 08 HR.

I think they are great! Rob knows more than he lets on. He's a modest guy so ask and listen to his advice. He's also as ****-retentive as I am with attention to detail. I Wouldn't take my car anywhere else...

Not much, but back in 06 when I started to lurk for my first car. The news that a Nismo was coming out I thought it would fly and make ice water in the cabin! Now when you take a step back Nissan uses tid bits of Nismo and it's name to push their products! Great marketing plan because noobs such as myself at the time ate it all up!
After the 07/08 Nismo coming at the end of the z33 line. They (Nissan) wasted no time making a z34 Nismo! Same time pushing out different variants of the GT-R as well! Even set the z34 Nismo to reset numbers each year so fanboys can claim a special number each year.
As I said knowing a little more, many can do a lot with a base Z33 and Z34 over it's top model the Nismo. As shown in your article smart modding can bring a Z33 up to speed/power/looks however objective that is.
Like I said though I'd take a '14 Nismo at market up price again as I did back in the fall of 07 for 44k!!!!!!!

like taking the "Special edition" wheels from the 2005(?) anniversary model and putting them on every stock 350z since. Doh! Not so special any more...
I was in San Jose for the road show of the first 370z pre-release viewings. A yellow and a blue with some weird switch in the trunk under the carpet. Turns out it was an oil cooler. So they knew they had oil cooling problems before they sold the first z. For them to leave that out of the "nismo" version is inexcusable, IMO.
I mentioned the review/blog on the 370z site and the fan-boys are about to hang me. Some crazy folks over there...

I'm in total agreement with you, as soon as i clapped my eyes on the Z33. I just loved the shape of it, there was no 'well it'll grow on me', it was love/lust at first site. The 370 on the other hand has not grown on me at all. The horrible shape of the lines side on, blurgghh, the hatch is far too straight, the whole thing just doesn't look right. When i upgrade it'll be for the newest 350 i can find.
Redline your dyno is very consistent with what I've seen. I have two friends one with a 370z nismo and other with HR. Both of them are running OBX longtubes and got tuned by Dynosty on the same day. The 370z nismo had 5 more hp, but its torque peak a lot earlier than HR. 370z is probably still a bit faster with their 3.7 FD, but they're stuck with that ratio unless they want to lose their rev matching witchery. HR can still go 4.08
