Lol read through both threads, awesome article btw. I've been hanging with a bunch of 370z members here in Houston, and I know one of the two members who threw their 2 cent at you btw OP.

Every local 370 member is cool as fck, but we're a different person on the forum. Reading some of their and other comments is disturbing and I know how they feel about the 3fiddy now, no respect whatsoever

Why can't we all get along

@ the thread over at 370z. They do bring up some good points but KingBaby nailed it. Thread should've ended there.

370z's look like angry cat fish. I was quite disappointed in them. I think the z31 looks better than the 34's.

HR can still go 4.08

Thanks for the graphs. Good numbers! As you can see, my modded HR was even putting down more torque throughout the range, which I was not expecting, although it did feel noticeably stronger in the mid-range RPMs. .

Also surprising was that the 370z Nismo and my 07 Grand Touring weighed the same. There's a truck scale about 10 miles from my house and I weighed both cars.

Good point that the 350 can go 4.08's while that might screw up the 370's rev-matching. Sometines I wish I had the 4.08's, but the ability to go 74 MPH in 2nd gear for freeway clover-leaf on-ramps is a blast. I used to have a 97 M3 and the gearing was too short for freeway on-ramps to be fun. I think 2nd topped out at 59 MPH so around the corner I was at the top of 2nd and would have to shift into 3rd mid-corner.

Thanks!

Agreed, we al have great cars. I didn't really think my article was choosing a 350 over a 370. I love the way the 350 looks, but I like the way the 370 mechanicals feel and drive better. (aside from the rough engine and shifter vibrations).

If I got a 370, it'd be despite it's looks. But the Nismo 370 I do think looks great. The non-Nismo ones, not so much.

yep, and it's all subjective.

I do much prefer the 370 instrument cluster. Minus that stupid digital LED gauge on the left. at least it's not bright silver any more.

There is a bad glare problem on the pod gauges in the 370. never ever had glare in the 350.

Also, the HVAC controls on the 370 are ALL silver with a tiny, barely noticeable orange dot for the indicator. More than once, I looked down and couldn't tell what they were set on without really studying them for a few seconds (taking my eyes off the road). definitely a step backwards there.

yeah, I still walk out to my car and think, "dammm, that's hot" granted, I have the body kit and Volks with the +22mm offsets, and now some ridiculously wide rubber. I think it helps to change up the looks once in a while (adding here and there).

i wont bash the 370z performance but i think nissan really failed when they named it the successor. The 350 at the time was great on their timing for a niche sports car that appealed to the people. The 370z however i think is a laggard in terms of its release compared with other manufactures.

and....once again i will say that the shape of the 350 is like a curvy, sculpted women *** while the 370 is confused, angular, mean looking flat/man ***. props on the interior quality though but to me its kind of too many design ques going on...... i am still an admirer of the z33 pod gauges and its placement.

its all to each their own. I have owned both, and heavily modified both. The time came to narrow down, it was the 350z that had to go. I have serious complaints about how BOTH of them look. I feel the Z cars are hideously water'd down, and the way either of them LOOK or PERFORM when stock are both *terrible* IMHO and I wouldnt purchase either of them if heavy modification was out of the question. FOR ME personally both the cars are about their end potential with heavy mods, in which case the 370z comes out ahead.

Forget the nicer interior and overall higher build quality. If you wanted the BEST reason for a 370z over a 350z... its the front wheel bearings and spindles. Anyone with a 350z that has big tires and big brakes and turns REAL hard already knows exactly what I am talking about... and yes the 370z fixed that problem.

Like any car, the 370z has a whole set of problems to address all its own. Its far from perfect but for me it was a closer start.

Obviously just my opinion. I love them both the same, and I hate them both a little more. Wear whatever shoe fits!

IMO - the 370 failed as the successor for the 350... same goes to the 350 failed as the successor for 300. But the 350's production sale trump both z34 and z32. There are many variables like timing, pricing, looks etc. but Z owners of all generation can't deny the fact that when the 350z first came out in 03'... as soon as you bat an eye on the Z33, it was love at first sight. The same can't be said for the z34... sorry.

Yes, I like the 350's gauge pod better as well because the first pod is speedo (what I set mine as) short glance with no head movement whereas the 370's it's the third pod which require head movement/eye roll just to see.

Glad someone knows what I'm talking about with the brake-pad knock-back on the z33. HORRIBLE having to double-pump your brakes at the track or on the street to restore the brake pedal. Especially at a twisty track like Laguna Seca.

But then my z33 never overheated at the track like the z34 does without an oil cooler.

But z34 owners can install an oil cooler. I don't think there is any fix for the crappy z33 wheel bearings. such a shame.

My 97 M3 had better wheel bearings... even being 10 years older...
