Default Please help, over heat

Hey guys so I got my 2007 roadster mt 2 months ago. The reservoir tank was very low so I filled it and overtime with school and all that I forgot to monitor it. Yesterday on my to school it started jerking on the highway. Brought it to a gas station, The reservoir tank was empty with steam coming out of it, I filled it with coolant, went over the MAX line in my panicking frenzy. Tried to get back to school and it started getting hot again. A tow truck brought it to school (I had a big test). I waited until night and drove it home, where it was fine for like 10 minutes and it stated heating again. The reservoir tank is full and I put some in the radiator itself. What to do guys???? Any suggestions? This guy wanted to charge me $70 jus to come look at it -___-

Please help fellas, need this car for my commute.

(Also would it be risky to drive 15 mins to a mechanic?)

Sounds like you have some air trapped. Try burping it?

I thought that could be an issue. Do I have to 'burp' it? Saw that somewhere last night. How can I know for sure? This car was working superbly last week.

Are your fans working?

If it pulled air, yes you need to. And these cars are a notorious pain in the *** to burp.

I appreciate the quick update guys. The two fans behind the radiator only come on when I switch on the A/C. :/

How long did you let it idle? The fans won't turn on until it's hot.

I only check them when I switch on the engine. How long should I let it idle?

Wait until your temp starts getting high. If it's overheating and the fans haven't turned on, it's a fan issue. If the fans turn on and it's still overheating, I'd try burping.

Does the car still have antifreeze in it? Radiator and reservoir? Any obvious leaks? Usually cars dont lose antifreeze for no reason. Check your hoses and coconnections, etc...

And driving 15 minutes would be risky... If it was a mile down the road and 55 outside probably be ok... 15 minutes I wouldn't even try it.
