LOL well the rumors and speculations better be confirmed or you will lose your first born...

Based on the design philosophy of the new Maxima:
-Shorter wheelbase, but wider track. The new Maxima didn't shed weight from this change.
-Uprated interior materials - compare new and old Maxima assuming materials better than plastic will be no lighter.
-Assumption that the VQ37VHR is heavier than VQ35DE. The new Maxima kept the same VQ35DE.

I'm getting worried...

I see where you're coming from but NIssan engineers did their best to remove weight (hence the shorter wheelbase). The 370Z suppose to be 220 lbs (or at least 200 lbs) lighter than the current 350z.

Judging by the recent pictures, I'd actually give away my first born for that z.

Okay not really ..but you get the point

hm, aren't the VQ35HR's making between high 260 to mid 270's? Hope Nissan really keeps its promises on making the 370Z considerably lighter

Haha... before the '03 was released (JMANZ.COM days), we in the forum were nuts over the HP numbers. Everyone thought 295HP because of the tags on the test mules, and the final number was 287HP. I wouldn't count on anything more than 330HP. It doesn't matter because 328hp-340hp isn't much of a difference.

HP aside, imagine what the G37 would be like even at 3200 lbs! Though I didn't care much about weight before, but that's the only thing I'm obsessing over besides the integrated 7" display. I'm looking for pictures of the Maxima 3.5s because the specs doesn't show 7" display as a standard feature.

.

LOL, I remember! I was so excited. I was hoping for 300 myself, but it ended up taking 3 model years to get that!

hmmm good point, didn't thought of it like that. I personally think (my opinion) that they wont make the 370Z less powerful than the G37. I believe G35 always had equal HP compare to 350z. If we go by that theory, I can see how the new Z will get 330 hp.

Offtopic, High five fellow '03 CS owner. I'm definitely ready for an upgrade. I was close to getting the G37, but it didn't appeal to me in terms of the "fun to drive" factor.

We just have to see what options for FI that will come out. If what I read is true the in the highly hostile FI forum the HR's are setup better for boost than the DE's. Other than that no matter how much hp comes with it I'm getting it!!!
