Not sure if sending it to me would help or not since I'm still very very new. I know a couple of recruiters you could call to see if they will represent you to EA though. Just let me know if this is an avenue you want to pursue and I'll PM you the info. I'll try checking the job boards later today and will let you know what comes up.

Nitrouz, lol that's funny. Any idea which city you'll be moving to? Perhaps I can help you out if you are not familiar with the area. Also which company are you working for? That might dictate location more than anything else as traffic here can be way worse then anything I've seen in Vancouver thus far. We did look at Capitol Hill and Vancouver Heights. Nice place, but N. Van felt more like home to us. Haven't been to Richmond yet. I was looking for a Dim Sum place on Sat and got as far as 41st and Cambie, a place called Spicy Court. They were pretty good compared to the spots in San Francisco. Good luck to you too

best dim sum is in richmond IMO...right next to Richmond Centre...on the corner of No. 3 Road and Westminster. Right on top of bank CIBC. It's called Kirin Restaurant.

I'm going to be working for Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley in Palo Alto...but real estate there is too expensive for me. Any idea where I could rent a NICE apartment with a beautiful view (preferably ocean view) with a jacuzzi?? Just a 2 bedroom...with a SECURE parking lot for my car lol... Anything cheaper than palo alto...what would be cities close to it (within 30 to 40 min. driving distance)? Has to be a nice neighborhood too...lol...

thanx for any suggestions...

If you could PM me your recruitment resources I would really appreciate it. If you happen to glance at the job boards and see any particular development openings, please let me know as well.

Thanks again for your help!

Ocean views close to Palo Alto are tough since you hit the mountains before the ocean. But at the high end of your commute (40 min) you could do something like Pacifica, or Half Moon Bay if you don't mind driving through a canyon road to get to work. You might be able to find something in the southern end of San Francisco but timewise you'll be pushing it. I used to live in an apartment complex next to Lake Merced. Had a 6 floor view of the lake which was nice. Not an ocean view but still nice. It also had common gated parking which was great for security. The Sunset district in SF can get you some ocean views but again you would be pushing it on the commute. Also depends on your lifestyle. Do you need to be close to the city or can you live where things are slower?

Alex,

Sunset is way far to live if you will be working at Silicon Valley. Traffic is gonna be a biatch also. I would say try stay close to the proximity of your work place if possible. California traffic could get messy and getting stuck with traffic everyday could get annoying from time to time.
Sorry I don't have a place in mind, just some suggestions.

Here's my old commute from So. Sunset to Palo Alto. Yahoo says 35 minutes, but as stated below, it can get messy at times which will blow out the 35 min estimate. My wife did do this commute for about 1.5 years when she worked at Microsoft. Tough commute no doubt but doable (by Bay Area standards).

Also check out www.craigslist.org

Ran a search for 2 bedroom or more apartments near Palo Alto and got these. Should give you an idea of what you get for the $ if you decide to stay closer to work.

Hey Fab_vr6, we pretty much narrowed down our move to N. Van, but I always like to have an out so Vancouver Heights or Capitol Hill is our close 2nd choice. Any idea how the elementary schools are in this area? We really liked both areas a lot but in the end N. Van won out with us by a slight margin for us due to the close proximity to the Lonsdale shopping.

[QUOTE=Fab_vr6]I actually live in Burnaby and I can say there are quite a few of areas that is in your price range, as a matter of fact, if you look at the Burnaby Heights area (where I live), it is within that price range and is one of the better neighbourhood in Burnaby, very convinent, look nice, low crime.

will you be bringing your Z?[/QUOTE

Hey Pal,

There are a few elemantry school in this area, nothing fancy but all are good schools. The kids in the area are generally well behaved , and I guess that's very important to know. When I went to school long time ago, there were very little trouble kids in the area.

When are you finally moving here? We should definetly hook up.

Thanks for the info. Could you please give me the names of the schools local to the area if you have them? I was actually up there for almost 2 weeks from Nov. 17th. What was that crazy fog about? Reminded me of the Sunset District in San Francisco. Anyway we should be moving up around the middle of Jan. so we've already started the home search. I'm definitely down to meet up. Too bad I can't make the Dec meet that's going down. Would be nice to see some other Z's in Vancouver.

I'll get u some info in the next 2 days for sure.
The fog is rare in this time of the year, dunno what's wrong w/ the weather this year...
Definetly we should do some autoxing and tracking as soon as weather allow us to In fact, we have a slush series here, hosted by one of the autox club.
And, I can also give you some tax planning advice (since it's so diff in Canada vs US) because of the nature of my job (Financial planner at the largest bank in Canada)

Sounds good and thanks again. Yeah taxes are definately different. It was kind of a bummer when I found out that you cannot write off interest payments on a house like you can here in the US. Oh well, it's minor considering how great a place Vancouver seems to be. I think my family will be very happy here especially considering Orlando FL was the alternative
