Default Questions for Canadian Z(ed) car owners :)

Starting looking at puchasing (or leasing) a used 350Z and was hoping some owners who have already done their research could help me with.

My understanding is that "tire feathering" problems occured in 2003 and early production 2004. Does the 2004.5 have this issue resolved? What are the distinctive features to set the 2004.5 apart from the 2004's? Build dates?

According to Lemon Aid and Consumer reports the early models experienced some problems with the 6M transmission. They pick the best year as the 2005 -- any comments??

Other than that I guess I need to do some research on different models & options. Did they limit the number of models available in Canada -- ie. Track, Touring, Performance, etc.

For the record I'm looking at the coupe... not roadster

Any and all feedback is much appreciated

I have one of the earlier Z's made (Nov '02) and have not had any problems except tire feathering. Even this was resolved with some aftermarket tires and an alignment.

Wife had the '03, had issues with the feathering, but the dealership was great about giving her new tires. Now have an '05, no problems.

doo925... The first 350Z I saw in a showroom was Daytona Blue - still my favorite colour with silver a close second.

PS... I'm also on G35.ca (BBY-G35) and have always appreciated your straight-up responses.

I have an 05, and I still have the following problems:

- window grease
- had to get in second gear when driven hard (new clutch solved that issue)
- throw out bearing noise at idle when clutch is released in neutral (new clutch solved that issue)

can't comment on the feathering since I dropped the car and slapped on new wheels and rubber the first day I got the car.

hope this helps.

Just purchased a 03 Track, with 13300 km on it. Damn I love the car, but I can already tell that I have the Feathering issue, car is still under warranty untill the end of june, so hopefully the dealership will slap on some new rubber and allign the car properly. If that does not solve the issue, I'm hoping that a new set of aftermarket tires will help.

Any advice?... thx.

My dealership is being very easy to deal with on the tire feathering issue. I have an '03 Touring (Daytona Blue) with 19k kms on it and I am getting the tires for 100% free because of the low mileage on the stock rubber. I took in the letter from Nissan and they ordered the tires, no questions asked.

I have a 03 and the car is just fantastic. I had the feathering issue which was promplty taken care of by my dealer. Since the re-alignment, I haven't experienced any issues with the car.

You can't go wrong with the Z. It's a solid performer.

240Zplus110,

I actually purchased a Daytona Blue back in January. No issues other than the tire feathering (which my goal is to get new rubber on the front this week).
